Default DREAM rules announced

http://dreamofficial.com/news/detail.php?id=1205211062

I’m not 100% sure, but:

Round Lengths:

10 minute first round, 5 minute second round. A 90 second interval between rounds.

Judging:

Fights are judged in their entirety and no draws are possible, the judges must pick a winner.

Knees, stomps and soccer kicks:

Stomps and soccer kicks to the head of a grounded opponent are not allowed, but they are allowed to the rest of the body. Though if both fighters are on the ground, they are allowed to the head.

Knees to the head of a grounded opponent are allowed.

If there is a 15 kg or more weight difference nothing of the aforementioned is allowed.

I hope the 10-5 rounds is only for tournaments and we get 10-5-5 otherwise.

Shame both stomps and soccr kicks are gone but at least knees are still in.

Seems to be exactly the same as Yarennoka.

I don't think these are only for the tournament, it doesn't say anything like that, it says the official DREAM rules, not official DREAM tournament rules.

And draws weren't allowed in Pride either (besides in the beginning).

Isn't 10-5-5 a little long for a 2 hour tv broadcast?

Yup, pretty much the same, but I don't know if Yarennoka allowed kicks to the head when both fighters were on the ground. (Even though Aoki did it)

And they revised the definition of the "ground position." Now it's 3-point instead of 4-point (feet + 1).

That sucks, crap like that is bound to be abused by having a hand on the ground.

I don't get the three point thing, if someone puts a hand on the floor they will just get kneed in the head. If knees weren't allowed, then it would be abused the hell out of. Stupid rule, another thing fighters have to think during the fight, I guess they did it to avoid close situations like Akiyama/Misaki.

It wasn't just Aoki, they certainly weren't warning anyone for them...

Yes, you (standing position) can knee your opponent (ground position).

The new rules are set so that anything that even remotely resembles soccer kick is to be absolutely forbidden, I think. They just completely killed it.

About the 15 kg thing, does it say that the smaller fighter can choose to disallow knees or that it is always like that?

In that case, the knees are just forbidden. The rules state so definitively.

Thanks, that's what I thought. Someone on Sherdog wrote that the smaller fighter could choose if he wanted them or not.

Well, at least the most important rule (10 minute first rounds) was confirmed, but I will really miss soccer kicks.

They should really try to fix a PPV deal in Japan, that is the biggest discussion on the site BBS. I was hoping for the 2chan people to attack someone or somebody and fix it, but it seems like they haven't done anything noteworthy for a while now.

I like the rules for the most part, but dammit man! We need soccer kicks and stomps!

I like a good stomp or soccer kick to the face as much as the next man but for the growth of the sport I'm perfectly happy to do without them to be honest.

Knees to the head on the ground however are essential.
