Default Kyotaro Ready for Second Boxing Bout

Quote:

It has to be tough to be a Japanese heavyweight kickboxer and not have the ability to fight for the hometown K-1. For the smaller fighters, KRUSH, RISE and a few other promotions run big tournaments that keep them busy year round, but for poor Kyotaro, his options seemed to be limited. So limited, in fact, that he decided to try his hand at professional boxing, where he would have more opportunity than on the non-existant K-1 circuit. After making his debut in December, it appears that Kyotaro will once again step into the boxing ring.

According to Nightmare of Battle, Kyotaro is set to do battle with Jae-Chain Kim, a Korean Heavyweight who is currently ranked ninth by the OPBF. The two will meet on March 6th at the legendary Korakuen Hall.

For those wondering how his first Boxing Bout went Kyotaro defeated Michael O'Donnell last New Years Eve by unanimous decision over 6 rounds. Unfortunately I couldn't find any vids of it so any link would be welcome - if there even is any.

I dunno about that. He's not the tallest, but he does seem pretty solid at 223lbs/101kilos at just 25 yrs of age.

Back in the eighties yes, but these days the heavies are huge. Unless you are a super talented second coming of Tyson you are not going to go that far...

He had the same problem in K-1 which just led to him running around the ring trying to pot shot against the bigger guys.

Correct, that's one of the reasons I don't see him getting too far in either sport. Meaning that while he could get far, I can't imagine him acquiring a belt. While he IS a legit heavyweight (100+ kilos), he's a bit undersized compared to the absolute BEHEMOTHS we see in heavyweight divisions nowadays. He does have speed and explosive knockout power, but he's always at a disadvantage against anyone with a substantial reach/weight advantage.

If he somehow cuts down to cruiserweight, I think he'll lose power, stamina and shock resistance as his current weight seems pretty much in sync with his frame.

That's what I was thinking, but it wouldn't be too bad if he stayed at boxing for a while, brushing up his skills.

A clip of Kyo's first boxing match including the knockdown.

Looking good!

EDIT:

Also, does anyone know what this is?

It looks like a public sparring session. Kyo got outscored, but the other guy didn't look quite as heavy as Kyo.
