View Full Version : Updates on Banned Users

We banned another user recently. I think it's in its place to say that we've got 4 banned users out of 400. That's not a lot of banned users. Breaking it down:
- 1 got banned for raising hell in relation to a competition; this person has later rejoined and is back in a very nice incarnation!
- 1 got banned for copying the PBP to another site. That's a no-no, and it's especially crappy to do it and then go "(o Y o), great PBP, you the man!"
- 1 got banned after several warnings and days of discussions about keeping the level of discussion mature -- a very important point for us on the site.
- 1 got banned because he wanted to see what happened in case he did what his buddy above did.
All in all, this is not a bad track-record. The point is the majority of members are really great. Some bans have more noise about them than others and that's why I decided to create this thread, to explain the situation. As you can see, a little less than 1% of the members have been banned, and it's ~0.75% today considering one of the old members is back, and ~0.5% that were banned because of how they conducted themselves.
In short, nobody should feel like they're walking on eggshells here. :-) The previous bans have been justified. We're not looking to ban people, but we'll do it to maintain the good atmosphere on Kakutougi. That's it. There's the update on the number of banned users and the reasons for which they've been banned. I hope this clarifies any potential issues!

So there is a chance for banned people to get back in if they behave in their new incarnation?

That depends on what they did in the first place.

I don't mean to question the administration's actions as I also believe in upholding the forum rules strictly but this is just a request ... is it possible to allow the third banned person you mentioned to come back? :o
I think he's a great contributor to discussions and I was pretty surprised he got himself banned.

Doesn't matter how much somebody contributes to discussions and it doesn't matter whether they're on a fight team or breaking news straight from the horse's mouth. Bottomline is: when you bring down the general level of a site by a consistent immature manner, there's no contribution that makes up for it. We simply don't want active posters that have that way about them. There's plenty of informative posters here that can be both non-derogatory, respectful, and mature. In fact, pretty much every active member we've got. It's really not a difficult decision. :-)

Not to be rude, but if I wanted to name members, I'd done so in the first post. :-) This isn't a thread to point fingers, so please understand my reasons for not naming anybody. :-)

You are a simple case.
Firstly I would, if I downloaded all of your video`s, removed your water mark and added my own and hosted them here, expect to be banned at your site.
Everytime we post a new thread here in K-1 it suddenly, near word for word, turns up on your site, including exclusive info we have worked to get. You have stolen graphics from here and used for yourself, removing our name from them, and are infact still using graphics on your main page you stole from www.kakutougi.info
We thought it simple.....just shut you out of K-1 and see if you actually contribute elsewhere enough to be let back in....which you haven`t done at all yet.

I thought the banning on the guy talking about the broads wasn't so great but eh... whatever.

I thought the banning on the guy talking about the broads wasn't so great but eh... whatever.I understand, but there were others who thought it was great. In fact, there were members complaining about a previous issue that lead up to the one you mention, so we tried talking to the member about it before banning. It is a fight-site. We're visited by boys and girls and men and women of every age and culture and background. You (not addressing you directly, just generally speaking) must as an active member be able to see their perspective and respect that it might differ from yours and what you find acceptable or offensive. When a member is unable to use a respectful tone (and again, we're talking about a repeat offense on #3 -- not as simple as "talking about broads" -- and #4 doing it just to get banned and run tell his buddy #3), we need to do something just because of that, and we'll only spend so much time trying to talk to somebody before it turns into wasted time. As administrator, it isn't my "job description" to have personal opinions affecting bans or reflecting on banned cases.

This is _by far_ the nicest and most mature site I've visited when it comes to martial arts discussion (including sherdog, nokaut, kampsport.se and others). Admins, mods and posters, keep up the good work!
And if banning a few people is needed to keep the atmosphere intact, ban them! :)
