Jean-Marc Mormeck makes an inaugural dfense of his WBC and WBA cruiserweight title tonight! Mormeck got his title back and avenged his only loss in a decade with authority.

David Haye is the #1 contender and has an up and down career. I used to call Haye the 'old man killer' dating from his days of running over Arthur Williams to thrashing Carl Thompson. But he impressed me with his 45 second KO of Bonin who only was stopped by the UK's beloved Audley Harrison (yes, this is sarcasm). Weird thing is this is Haye's last fight as cruiser win or lose.

Anyone going to get this? It's schedulded for Saturday and I assume to be shown via Setana.

Bloody hell I totally forgot about this fight since they changed the date, cheers for reminding me. Hopefully the added time has given Haye more of a chance to adjust to fighting back at cruiser. I think he'll stop Morneck, say what you will about Haye but he's got a a lot of power for a cruiserweight. I'm still undecided about his chances at heavy though.

Also I haven't checked but IIRC Haye's still signed with Sky so they'll probably air the fight live.

Haye is game for sure. And he very honestly is better than a number crunch of his record would indicate. He'll show up live and ready to fight for sure. And yes indeed Haye hits like a train for his weight.

I think that Haye is going to pull of the upset. JCM has trouble with big punchers and has been protected by home cooking in both score cards and time keepers. I think that Haye is going to use that natural big time punching ability to hurt JCM early and often and I have him stoping JCM late. If he doesn't stop him, JCM will win.

I can't find any TV listings for the UK, it doesn't look like it's gonna be shown here. Maybe Sky and Setanta have pissed away all their cash on Hatton and Calzaghe and King is probably asking for silly money.

Typical bloody Don King. This isn't the first time this has happened here, asks for stupid money for the fight and then a day or so before turns round and gives it to the highest bidder. Unfortunately I don't get Setanta but good news for UK boxing fans.

Congrats Aubtin! Haye did it when everyone doubted him. In the 7th Haye clobbered Mormeck with a bad ass uppercut and right hook.

For anyone who saw the undercard, the results are:

Also on the card, a WBC Light Welterweight Eliminator was decided as Souleymane M'baye, 36-2-1, 21 KO's, stopped Ameth Diaz, 23-7, 17 KO's, in the fourth round. Considering that Diaz had been stopped in five of his seven losses and has never beaten anyone of note, while M'baye has been tested.

Ali Chebah, 23-0, 17 KO's, kept his dreams of stardom alive at 22 with a third round TKO over Wellington De Jesus, 11-1, 7 KO's, to capture the WBC Youth Light Welterweight Title.

Good stuff! The pub I was at last night weren't interested in showing the boxing so I ended up missing it. It's a great result for Haye but what's next? Can he really stand up to the some of the power of the heavies?

I knew it, I figured Haye had too much power for him. Open scoring kept his title last time, but no such luck this time. It is good to know that Haye finished him, because I thought it would be difficult to get a decision.
