Stephen QuadnoseOur first match this evening is a former UCFC main eventer in CHUCK LIDDELL. Known as "The Iceman" this heavy-hitter has one thing on his mind: Knocking people out! His opponent is fresh off a hard fought loss to Bob Sapp, "The Babyface Assassin" Josh Barnett. Barnett is a very game fighter who has improved a lot over the span of his career. He prefers the submission game, but can also throw hands. It should be a great match!

Stephen Quadnose:Coming up now is the Blue Eyed Samurai, Andy Hug, hoping to put on a striking showcase with former King of Pancrase Yuki Kondo! Kondo is a good striker himself, but I have a hunch he will try to keep Andy Hug on his back tonight and put his submissions arsenal to work.

Damn Royce caught Yoshida with two Ippon Seoinages and a couple of Koshi Gurumas, plus Yoshida pulled guard 3 times! This proves once and for all BJJ > Judo.

Also I'm raising questions on the management of Team Flappy! Barnett's had three fights in less than 24hrs.

Los Super Amigos advance with impressive win over rival Team FLAPPY
Couture and Liddell get back to their winning ways

Stephen Quadnose speaks with a jubilant Los Super Amigos Team Captain, Randy Couture, after sealing his teams win with an impressive KO victory over rival Josh Barnett.

SQ: Randy, how does it feel? Your team just got a bit of redemption with a big win here tonight.

Couture: It feels great. It's been a tough few weeks for the guys. This all brings it back, lifts our spirits. We needed this one.

SQ: Talk us through the battle.

Couture: Josh is a real strong guy, and he's deceptively quick for a man that size. A few years back, it is all well documented, that size was too much for me. I think I have gotten a whole lot better. I have better defense, better stand up, and I am in great condition, feel strong and tonight it all paid off. It feels good to get that win back.

SQ: You looked real confident coming out in the first round.

Couture: I wanted to get off fast. I landed some punches right off the bat to set the tempo, to take the fight right at him. I backed up too much against Fedor and did not want to make that same mistake again. He took the shots, he got me down, worked in some knees and even headbutts which I had not expected or trained for, but it is all good. They woke me up more than anything. I backed up, used spacing like Chuck has worked with me on, and then landed my right hand, a few jabs, I got a takedown and worked in a neck crank. He slammed me, more of a suplex. That was nice, but it did not do any damage. I guess he got that from his Inoki wrestling job. I just kept working my hands, landing combos, and getting a few takedowns where I just rained punches. I thought we won the round pretty decisively. Then more of the same in round two. I could see he was tired and a little hurt. We got clinching, used my dirty boxing and I could feel his air leaving him. I used low kicks like Andy worked with me on, got in some big knees, some combos, took him down, used those knees some more and I knew I could wear him down and have more left in the end. We had an armbar, but in the end, it was just more punches. He got a takedown that I was lucky to transition into a triangle and hit him with some punches. I think that kind of killed his spirit. I took his back, rained down more knees and punches until the referee stepped in. It was a big win for us. Everything went accordingly, like we had trained.

SQ: I know you wanted this win over this opponent.

Couture: Well, anytime you can face a top ranked guy, you want to win the fight. Josh is a terrific fighter and he has beat me before. That's all water under the bridge and now and we just move on and try to win as a team and get our guys in Title contention.

SQ: Thanks Randy. Terrific win. Now, let's talk to Andy Hug who made his return to the ring tonight, resulting in a controversial split decision, well Andy, you were on the wrong side of that one, according to the judges.

Hug: Well, I don't know. I feel good. I thought I did well and did enough to win the decision. That's what happens though. Sometimes they see it your way and sometimes they don't.

SQ: This was a first for you, under MMA rules.

Hug: Yeah, it was bit different than I am used to. I have a stand up fight that I am looking forward to, in S-1. I will be facing Satake. That is more my style. This was good though, it showed me what I need to work on and how to maybe impress the judges more next time.

SQ: Kondo seemed to want to take the fight to the mat.

Hug: Yes, that was his strategy. He has many more years of training on ground fighting and I have more experience on my feet. So, that was how the fight was going to go. I think I did a good job with my guard and ground defense. I blocked a few takedowns and he did not submit me. I think I did enough on my feet, landing kicks and punches to win the fight, but they did not see it that way. Oh well. We won in the end thanks to these guys. So, we still will celebrate. I still feel like a winner despite the outcome of the scorecards. I really thought he was going to go down at the end of that second round. It was just a matter of time. That is how it goes. Satake is next and I will be more prepared for that, and in better shape having worked out the rust here tonight.

SQ: Very good, we will look forward to that. And now...the man that started it all off for Los Super Amigos...he is the enforcer for the Church of Xyientology..the ICEMAN..Chuck Liddell. Chuck, a huge win for you, and I know you wanted this one badly.

Liddell: Oh yeah. This one was sweet.

SQ: You got a vicious KO victory over a top Heavyweight. Do you feel like you redeemed yourself from the Semmy Schilt loss? Does this redeem you?

Liddell: I don't know who decides on that. I do know it felt good to go out there and fight my kind of fight. I knew he would try to take me down, that he did not want to stand with me. I know from fighting Randy that I have to avoid those takedowns and I did that. I landed a lot of punches in the first and some knees too. He is tough, I will give him that. A lof of guys would have gone down sooner.

SQ: You really took the fight to him in the second round.

Liddell: You know..man, I dont know...I thought I did that in the first too. He got my attention in the second with his kicks. That gave him some false confidence... I hit him with some big rights, got him down and just rained punches on him like we work on everyday. He wanted to keep standing, he ditched the gameplan and he paid for it. He just got dominated on his feet. I hit him with a right and put him to sleep. That is what happens. No matter how good your chin is, eventually I am going to catch you if you dare me, and that is what happened. He was out. We win and we'll bring it again in the next competition....Now...one second Stephen...I want to thank everyone for coming out tonight....and thanks to the Church..to Xyience...and I want everyone here to know..you are all invited...to my after party...It's at Club Pure...tonight..come celebrate with the Church....alright...(Does his Arm Cross in "X" Gesture)...we are back...Los Super Amigos...Church of Xyientology...thanks...

To speak on my teams performance let me first start by thanking Barnett for going out there tonight. He was sick during training and I didn't want to let him fight. He looked me in the eye and said that he would prove the superiority of catch wrestling. He was in bad shape and forced me to let him go out there anyways. He excecuted the first round as we planed it. He knew that he would take a few big fluries, but overall he answered all with a slam. He dominated the ground and his submission game was strong. We give great credit to Chuck because he went for some take downs when we thought we would only see a standing version of him. We felt we won the first round and then sickness came in. He didn't look comfortable at all and Chuck got stronger. Good win for Chuck but we will have more for him next time.

Then just as I wa preping Ice Cold to go out there for the tie breaker match, Barnett ran out to the ring to fight Randy. He said after words that it was to get his honor back. He fought great and if he had of made it to the cards we would have the victory. Randy did a good job of finishing it in the distance.

I told people that one of my goals was to get kondo back on track. He was great in training and it showed in the fight. We thought he had it easy, but the late rally by Hug made it a fight. He was extatic about the victory and then said that he wants to fight Wanderlei Silva. With his confidence back we think he will be a force down the road.

Congrats to the Super Amigos. We look forward to seeing you down the road.
