Seems the Daily Sports newspaper site in Japan is reporting that Silva has called for a unification of the belts, and as reported awhile back, the UFC and PRIDE are in talks to make it happen.

This time Sakakibara has sais there is a reasonably good chance of it happening (though he sounded confident on NYE too).

This is great news if it happens, but the PRIDE MWGP seems to be slipping the minds of many. IF this happens as originally announced ( 1 fight in each org under that orgs rules ) then it cannpt even start until about November of this year unless Silva drops out of the GP, which I serious doubt DSE will allow.

Damn, there isn't a real big window to put this fight together either. Between Randy's title defense and the GP, the timing is just bad.

I think this is just what this sport needs, such a fight has appeal to the entire mixed martial arts community, worldwide. I guess this will come down to, "promoter vs promoter" to iron out the differences. Either way I can't see why they can't put this fight together, and hopefully soon.
