With the summer holiday ahead of us I was thinking what the Kakutougians are planning to do in their holiday? Where are you guys going to?
I will start. I just booked a trip to London for 5 days. I know somebody in a very luxorious hotel there so I got an unbelievable discount. It's a 4 star hotel.
I will fly with KLM ( Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij) literally, Royal Aviation Company, but best know as Royal Dutch airlines. (Unfortunately sold to France by a 23 year old girl who was secretary of this country)
I will fly with an old Dutch airplane the Fokker 50. ( please don't make fun of the name 'fokker' is has nothing to do with..... you know.
I know some Thai friends (girls) there. And at least one night I have to stay at their student house, because the hotel isn't booked for the last day. I hope it will be a nice time.
I will be in London from 24 july till 29 july.

I hate you. I have absolutely no plans other than an overnight to Kobe and perhaps Tokyo (both unrelated to K-1/MMA) :-(
Summer seems to be my busiest time...

I understand, but look at the bright side, it safes you lots of money and efforts. May I ask why it's your busiest time, work related I guess?
I haven't been to holiday for 2 years. And my trip to London isn't really a holiday, it's more a mid week to London, however I think I really enjoy it there. I will stay at the Royal Lancaster hotel near Hyde Park. If everything goes well. Because she said the booking hasn't been confirmed yet. :)
@ Danvari. You really seem in the house groove. I hope the wheather will be okay for you, because the past 3 weeks we have rain almost everyday.

I'm going to Belgium next week. It wasn't really planned but I got the offer of an old friend to go with them last minute, so I just arranged it so I could get time off work.
I have no idea where (it's near Antwerp I think) it is, but it will be fun I'm sure :)

And I have not been to Australia for a holiday since either the 2003 New Year holidays.....been 4+ years :-(

Yeah, a lot of rain in Sweden as well, guess that they should move the festivals to August or something.
Still, we'll probably survive a day of rain. I guess it's gonna get a bit more packed in the tent-scenes.

Does anyone live in London erea? Does someone know a nice pub/club or really nice place to visit?
I have been to London 7 years ago but back then I was not 18 years of age, so we went to a pub and then they checked our ID and we got kicked out in the nicest possible way.
And what are the DO's and Don't for London?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

And it's nice and shiny in Croatia.
In a last month or so, I've been on the beach pretty much every day :-P

Hmm, where to start?
I like going out in Soho. There are loads of nice little pubs round there. You could walk around Brewer Street, Warwick St, Wardour St, and Old Compton St (this is the gay hub of London so most pubs down this street probably aren't the best places to pick up women) and find any number of nice pubs. The Glasshouse Store on Berwick St is cosy and resonably priced they have some old Pub Billiards table that I haven't got a clue how to play. Carneby St is also near by, it's nothing special but tourists seem to like it.
Also there's a great arab place that's open late on the corner of Greek St or Firth St where you can sit on sofas in the basement, get pissed, smoke Shisha and eat Kabab.
Chinatown is a couple of mins away. Loads of nice restuarants there. Maybe some nice Dim Sum for Lunch!
Leicester Square is a minute away from Chinatown. It gets very busy at night and there are a lot of bars and clubs here. If you're into pop and RnB then these clubs are for you, not my cup of tea though and a bit pricey.
If you wanna see a slightly more alternative side of London head east.
You could go to Brick Lane and have a famous Bengali curry in Banglatown, also there's a tiny bagel shop that does a wicked salt beef bagle!
From there you're a short bus ride or walk from Hoxton, it's full of Art & Design students all with the exact same hair, cardigans and tight jeans.. You can walk there from Old St, there are clubs pubs and bars there with a more alternative feel playing electro and alternative music. I've had many a good night round there.
If you're feeling touristy check out the Southbank. There's the london eye and tower bridge round there. If you're feeling up to it you could take in a bit of culture at Tate Modern or the NFT, which has a great poncy bar with big sofas and such.
If you want Fish & Chips go to the Golden Hind on Marylebone lane in west London, it's the best chippy in town. There are some nice quiet pubs off Marylebone High St too.
There are loads of other places too but this post was just getting ridiculous.
Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your help aubtin! You know what, I will print this and take it with me as a guide. You really made an effort to post such a long post.
I'm not gay so I will skip Old Compton St. And I won't pick up any women because I'm already with girl(s) so I think they won't like it if I pick others. :P
I have heard there is also a Dutch Heineken bar or something, do you know if it's nice? And what are no go area's?
Once again thanks a lot mate.

Well, normally I would not do it. When I was in Spain I never go to Dutch bars, however a friend of mine told me that club in London is pretty cool. That's why I asked if it's truly nice or sucks.

Sorry I've never heard of a Heineken bar, where is it?
There aren't really any no go areas as such in London. Some parts of Hackney and Tower Hamlets are a bit rough but Hackney also has a lot of nice pubs and stuff. London's like that, one minute you're in a hole and the next you're surrounded by frappachinos and art galleries.
Everywhere I've mentioned is fine. There are night buses and 24hr buses that run across London so you don't have to worry about missing the last train.
Also if you can try and check out Camden Market, preferably on a Sunday or Saturday. The market runs along a canal, there are stalls selling food, and lots of nice pubs about.

So, back from Dance Valley and the weather was great. Amazing festival, I envy you dutch people, parties like this don't exist in Sweden. Great line-up, great shows and very well organized. The only bad part was that the party ended at 23.00 (started at 10am). To make the party perfect it should go on until at least 3am.
Anyone else who's been there?

Parties as big as that are a rare sight in Holland too. If you also like the rougher styles you could take a shot at Defqon, friends of mine visit it every year and are very enthousiastic about it..
I wasn't there but I had a great night about 40 kilometers north of Dance valley. A band of which I know some the members really well did a gig in their own back yard and around 11 or so we could actually see the fireworks show that concluded Dance valley. A very nice sight indeed.
To talk about holidays I am a bit of a sad being this year :). I am not going anywhere not even a long weekend to the lowlands festival which I would like to do but I failed for a test last month and I have to do it again at the day after it ends when I am usually a smelly, muddy and tired individual trying to get home.
So basically I have no reason whatsoever to post in your thread dear Shinbone :).

Actually me and my friends are discussing going to Mystery Land (near Haarlem) in August. It's smaller than dance valley, but I think they said that they're selling around 20000 tickets, so it should be enough... :)
The fireworks were really good, and that combined with the lasershow they put on on the mainstage (and of course Paul van Dijk) was the perfect conclusion to a very good day.
I wish you luck with your tests, hope the weather clears up a bit at least so you can have some semblance of holiday...
So, anyone else going to Mystery Land?

Gents, I just got back from London. I really got a nice time there and I really do like the Brits. I was surprised how gentle and polite the people in London are. Mostly calling me 'sir' and 'mate' I really liked that. Dutch people are so boor compared to the Brits.
Moreover, English humor is brilliant, lovely!
Violence, I haven't seen any violence at all! Only one lad in the bus who refused to put his music down. The English were also so helpful to me.
Furthermore, I must say the city of London and the underground really need a restoration and a proper cleaning. Sometimes it looked like I was in eastern Europe. In addition, I didn't like the the many muslim women who covered their whole face and looked like ninja's.
