K-1 MAX - May 4

Alright, so what exactly is this event? Will it be the actual Grand Prix like the official site says? I really doubt that, that'd be very early. Or will it be like last year in April where they had a 16 man elimination to get it down to 8 men to move on to the July Grand Prix? I'm certainly hoping they're doing the 16 man elimination again, but it says on the official site that the 4 fighters (Kohiruimaki, Kraus, Masato and Puramuk) have already qualified for the Grand Prix on May 4 and that 4 more fighters are to be chosen.

So, what is it? A 16 man elimination or the actual 8 man Grand Prix?

If it's the Grand Prix, who do you think the other four will be?

-John Wayne Parr seems to know he's fighting
-Shane Chapman won the Oceania MAX
-Mike Zambidis has always performed well... so he'll probably be in it
-Farid Villaume... we'd all be very surprised if they didn't put him in

I believe it will probably be an elimination type event with the four you mention in superfights rather than eliminations....at least if they go by how they did the HW GP.

I still refer to them as eliminations... because the losers get eliminated (as they don't get to go into the Grand Prix several months later).

But yeah, I really hope you're right. This way 16 fighters get an opportunity to prove themselves, rather than 8.

I believe chapman is fighting the next weight class up from now on (superleague).... and last years oceania GP was nothing impressive.


I would love to see Chalmsak, magomedov and maybe even Skarbowski to make appearances. I imagine Jadamba could be there if his hand heals up, ditto with kid and genki, and probably some of the fighters from the J-MAX that just happened.

They've got an awesome talent pool to play with at the moment, I just hope they use it well.

The 16 man tourney like how they did last year was great. That card was full of good fights.

8 man tournament is just a waste of talents. There is so much great fighters -70 kg weight class. There is great fighters in superleague and K-1 Max, there is good european fighters and there is lots of good thai-fighters.
In my opinion 16 man tournament is the only solution, if K-1 org. wants to give a great show to the fans.
