He looked like he was dead.
Does anyone have any news on his condition?

He is alive. Post fight he said he was surprised at how fast Melvin was and shocked at his power. He did say from now he would focus on defense.

I feel more and more sorry for him, thats a lots of KO in a pretty short time now...
I liked the guy style, I wish he could have a best defense and a best chin too.

Good to hear he is starting to understand the importance of defense. At one time, I thought he would be the next Sam Greco. Now, I am seriously concerned about his health.

He looked like a was dead, yeah..the lowkick Melvin threw made him fly like a ragdoll. I don't want Karaev to go away, he is very exciting, but to many KOs aren't to good.

Glad to hear that he will focus on defense.
If he get that working he can still be the star we all tought he would be when he first started k-1.

He really needs to re-evaluate his whole fight plan. He still got his mind on being spectacular and using those spinning techniques but the basics he needs to focus on. His defense isnt bad, but he just has the wrong attitude for it. He cant control the fight 100% of the time he needs to back off sometimes and recover and get back to a tight guard when he isnt attacking. And when he is attacking he needs to bring back his gloves to his head.

He showed some good ability at evading punches in his fight with Leko and im confident he can master a great defence. But I really, really dont want to see this happen to him again. Bad enough that he is a nice guy, but I dont like seeing anyone heaviliy ko'ed so many times in such a short time span.

lol he's alive.... (still laughing). Ruslan needs some defense. I don't think it would have helped him against Melvin anyway, but his defense is easy to penetrate.

I used to feel sorry for him but now I am used to him falling unconscious...I admit I like the furious action before he goes down. He is really exciting to watch I agree...too bad nobody gave a shit about him or his career to save his health.

Maybe he was extremely poor or unintelligent but someone should have stepped in at some point. His head will be glass forever now and I'd be interested in having an intelligent conversation with him in a few years.

Where is an athletic commission when you need one??

Although I'm still really dissappointed in Ruslan since the fight, you reflect a bit differently on a fight after a few days. I just really hope he gets his shit together and starts working a solid defense and learns how to roll with a punch rather than headbutt it away, lol. Even if your chin isn't great you can achieve a lot in the sport with the right attitude/effort, so I really hope Ruslan will live up to his potential and not pull a Carter Williams on us...

He's suffered so many bad ko's in the last couple of years, I have to wonder if his fight career is over. I'd hate to see him suffer more face down k.o.s
I wonder if he could pass an MRI test in Las Vegas?

MRI is useless to assess damage unless it is brain haemoragia, serious damage of the brain substance or related signs of "dementia pugilistica". It can prevent a fighter to risk too much when a serious damage is present, but it cannot be so refined to predict upon the medium and long term lesions. Usually when MRI starts to look bad, the person in cause is seriously impaired and it is questionable if he/she can fight again. MRI can also indicate signs of brain edema, a serious sequel of a trauma, but this is again working on short term. Sadly, there are but few means to predict if a fighter is "at risk" before the damage is really irreversible.
