Schilt, Aerts & Slowinski Shine in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, June 23, 2007 -- Dutch fighters Semmy Schilt and Peter Aerts and Aussie Paul Slowinski were the big winners on a big night at the K-1 World Grand Prix '07 in Amsterdam.

Held at the sold-out Amsterdam Arena, the 18-bout extravaganza featured a Super Heavyweight Title match, a trio of Superfights and a special K-1 Kids match, as well as an eight-man elimination tournament to advance a fighter to this year's K-1 WGP Final Elimination. Undercard action included mixed martial arts and K-1 bouts alike, with DJs and dancers providing entertainment between bouts.

I think Schilt proved just how limited Mo is tactically when he cant use his Moverhand KO Punch. Mo couldnt land it and couldnt think up a new way to get past Schilts ranged kicks.

Yes, indeed El Presidente. Mighty Mo is an extremely dangerous fighter, but with the proper tools he can be beaten. In a way he is limited and one-sided.
Also the extra weight he carries is contradictionable. His weight is an advantage as well as an disadvantage. The advantage is that when he struck he strucks with all 133 kg behind it, but that extra weight makes him also slow and stamina wise isn't that that best situation either.

People were wrong to compare Schilt to Choi. They should have compared him to Aerts and Bonjasky, 2 fighters against whom Mo had trouble due to the kicks. Even Hori gave Mo trouble with kicks.

Manhoeff stopped Ruslan.... EARLY. That's the big story. Slowinski doing his thing is the headliner though. Schilt continues to do what I thought he would as the best heavyweight striker in the world.

Thanks for the report. Haven't seen it yet but sounds like a less than great show.

I am a broken record but Karaev goes completely unconscious way too often. Like every time he enters the ring he is knocked cold after his initial blitz of excitement. Nobody else seems to give a shit about this guy but I think someone needs to educate him on brain trauma and the suits of K-1 need to save him from himself.
