View Full Version : Bob Sapp is back?

Not quite.
K-1 and Bob have come to an agreement of sorts. Management at K-1 would have you, or their local public, believe they have a new contract in place. And they do. It is for a single fight only.
Bob Sapp's future with K-1 depends entirely on how he does in his fight against Peter Aerts. He will be paid $250,000 for this fight, and will then need to negotiate for an ongoing contract with the company. If he runs, he is done.

Ima guess Sapp is going give it everything he got for about 2 minutes until he gasses. He gots the motivation and $ to fight this time so it wont be no repeat of the last time in Amstardam which is cool.

Smart move by FEG I guess as they wouldn`t want to commit to any crying/running away etc just to cash in a paycheque. That said, the money is huge compared to some of what I have heard he was earning before (fight money).
Will be interesting to see how an untrained (for the most part) and motivated Sapp does.

Hell if I know. If Mo loses then I`d be guessing that 3 people will be getting a shot to stop Semmy somehow. Sapp (will draw ratings in japan and his rush might be surprising for Semmy), Iggy (beaten him once) and Jan (knocked him down/silly once and just fought another giant in Hawaii, maybe from K-1's point of view, in prep for a rematch with Semmy).
If Mo wins it opens up a million doors. Sefo, Aerts, Hunt (if he comes back), could all be there. LeBanner too if he wasn`t hurt.

Someone has to stop him 'cause we can't go true another year with a champ that is as exiting as an enima and can't entertain the public ! Hopefully Peter gets his shit together and does good , I think he has one more good GP final in him , his mind is strong but his body is paying the price of years of battering !!

LOL....that is one way of putting it.

I've always hoped Aerts could even the record with Hoost as he doesn`t deserve to be looked at as #2 historically speaking. Last year he was on fire too...especially as he trained only to fight Musashi.

It's up to Peter or Ray to do some magic , they both have the carisma and the skills ! These new young wannabe heavyweights must take a number and fall in line , leave it for the old pro's to do the job !!

Yeah, I think a vet like Aerts/Sefo/LeBanner winning would bring some asses back into the Dome for sure. Hopefully lady luck smiles on one of them this year.
I wonder if Mo KO's Semmy today, would they match them at the Elims again?
Or bring in Sapp for one of them?

First see what Peter does to Bob !!! I think they (FEG) wants Mo in the finals 'cause he sells tickets , so they will bring a lam to the slaughter for him in the elims , if Bob beats Peter , they will do the same with him !!!

I didn't know how popular Mo was in Japan- glad to hear this.

well, the audience clearly wanted Aerts to win, and it got what it wished for. But was Bob doing enough for his contract, had the details been worked out?
From business perspective, it would make sense to have Bob getting beaten up outside Japan, satisfying the arenas rooting for a local fighter, and then in Japan, beating small japanese fighters would be great for the japanese fight fans -- is it like that?

I don't know man......after that performance he will not be making nearly the money he had expected from here. Seriously, he went down on what was the first thing Aerts really threw.

Can K-1 withold some of his pay for that performance? It would seem that Bob basically took the money and went down at the first chance. Easy payday. I wish I would get 250,000 for a few seconds against Aerts.
But so far his last two intended fights in Holland mustve left something of a bad taste in the locals mouths.

Probably not (if the contract was worded normally). Once the fight started it was on. Unless he got DQ'd I doubt they could hold back his $$$.

Well. I think Bob from the word go just wanted to take the money and run. I will be shocked if we hear from him in K-1 again. Its pretty much a:
"Fuck you K-1. I got your money. Im outta here. See yaz"

I don't know what fight you were watching but to me, Bob Sapp was heroic in there. Look at the way he tried so hard to get up after being kneed in the lung. His fighting spirit was a thing of beauty, an awe-inspiring example of courage and tenacity in age where too few people take the easy way out. I'm not ashamed to admit that I wept like Andy Wang as Sapp, the biggest, and greatest of all the worlds warriors was led away from the battlefield after once more just coming up short againsty a clearly inferior opponent due to nothing more than bad luck and possibly some kind of weird planetary alignment.

bob never was expected to be a hero but to make heros out of other men - the japanese guys heroic in defeat and them special Monster Slayers ...
but was Bob now professional? if he was thinking continuing his K-1 career, he should have invested more of his energies and will intto geting beaten .. but if not
but Bob was a hero once, in a way...
Japan K-1 GP 2005 where he was "taking a stand against a Nation ..." and wun(? )
no wonder he got emotional after having done it.

They should at least make him go down three times before being allowed payment if not a victory.
What was Pettas thinking during all this? "Why did I waste my time.. again?"

I feel sorry for Pettas and Graham.
So many people that would have benefited from their coaching and experience, and they bothered training Sapp and being with him in the changing rooms, taping his hands, holding pads for him. What a total idiot.

And blocking fruit for him. Personally I would have stood behind him and let him take the oranges for me if I were Graham and Pettas.

This is one time I wish theyd give Sapp a timeout and let him recover and fight on... I really wanted to see him eat a shin to the temple. Maybe thats what he was scared of in the end... cos Im pretty sure Aerts was planning on chopping him with one.
