Ok, here we have a match that could be a good final. Bregy is bigger and has the edge when it comes to experience and power. He is also more technical then Wallis + won it last year.
Wallis is the more natural athlete. Pretty big himself at 115 kg and standing at 1.94m. He seems to be equipped with a pretty good chin and has the drive to fight in K-1. He needs to work on his technique a bit though as there is still plenty of room for improvement there. Bregy has to be the favourite in this one. Who do you think will take this one and how?

As long as Bregy's manboobs are in check I pick the Swiss Army Knife to take this fight by unanimous decision.

Should be a good fight. Neither has a real edge over the other. The only fighter I can think of that they both fought was Carter. Carter stopped Bregy in 2 rounds. Wallis stopped Carter in 3 rounds.

Yes, but it's a tough way to compare, not only because Carter was a diffferent fighter back in 2003 than the one KOed by Wallis, but also due to the extremely "controversial" punch that finished it for Bregy, a clear, full powered hook to the throat, that would incapacitate anyone. I'm not digging up any dead issues, nor saying it was an intentional illegal blow (very discussed at the time and Carter himself explained it wasn't), just saying it's hard to judge solely over those fights results.
I would say Bregy has the upper hand here, not trying to be harsh but Wallis never really impressed me and I've seen more than a bunch of his fights. Either should bring great problems for Magomedov though (considering he makes it past the quarters), will interesting again to see how he fares agaisnt literal giants (not just bigger heavies like before). And as long as Magomedov impresses and Slowinsky low-kick his way through the tournement, I'll be happy.

Im not digging crap up here to, but what pissed me was Carter complaint Sefo hit him in the throat in there fight, then wins his next fight by throat KO and says he was innocent

Bregy has improved so much in the last few years, though I think the issue will be his chin, which of course has not changed along with his technique. I may lean a little towards Wallis here because of his toughness.

Not exactly how it happened. Sefo punched Carter in the throat. Gene's complaints fell on deaf ears because throat punches were not illegal then. So we are thinking, "Cool. We'll punch people in the throat too." Now, it would be easy to say that the punch to Bjorn's throat was along this logic and it would tie up all the loose ends too. The truth is that Carter wasn't aiming for the throat. He hit Bregy's jaw first and the follow through went across the throat. This was due to Carter's height, Bregy's long neck and the way Bregy moved when he saw the punch coming.
Throat punches have since become illegal.

I presume you are not trying to infer that Sefo was aiming for Carters throat in their fight, as when you watch the replay you can clearly see Carters glove was in Sefo's face when the punch was launched (couldn`t have seen a clear target) and Carter moved between the punch leaving, and it landing.

No no. I'm not talking about intent at all. Even if Sefo did intend to do it, it wasn't an illegal move then so no one could call it dirty. Kind of like it is OK to put front kicks on the knee. In some places it is illegal but in others the onus is on the defender.

I remember someone on sherdog arguing it was clear that Sefo went out to try and hit Carters throat is all.
Have you heard from him since Strikeforce? Was it a knuckle in the eye or what?

I haven't heard from Gene yet. I saw the fight and thought that Carter looked tired and was losing the angles early. I don't think much of MMA, so the loss doesn't bother me as much as when he loses in KB. I hope he got paid well and that it was worth it for him as a learning experience.

My last correspondence about this was that it wasn't exclusive and that he could fight K-1 if he liked. The only thing is that Strikeforce pays him better than K-1, so he is not going to risk a payday by particpating in the K-1.

Makes perfect sense if he is not getting to Japan to try for the best 8 anyway.
