Remy is going to cut 5kg of muscle to make weight? Is Hari's belt really that valuable?

At the start of the year maybe.....this close to Eliminations I`m not sure.
remy vs Glaube according to Tanikawa was a #1 contenders match though.

That really doesn't make sense, to drop down that much just for that belt. There's a reason he fights at super heavyweight. The dude is more or less ripped and he's very tall. There's not much along the way of fat for him to cut. 5kg is a lot to cut for this! Can't we find someone who normally fights under 100kg to fight Hari?

15th June 2007, 08:13 AM
they weigh in is about 30 hours before the fight though.....so looking at it the other way it is not that tough for someone his size the cut the water weight of 11lb and be back at his usual size in the ring either.

They didn't fight under 100kg. How can he possibly justify it was for a 100kg title shot? OOPS! My bad. I said, "justify". haha

Aren't Remy and Glaube pre qualified for the eliminations? So why would they need a "backdoor" way to qualify?

they don't need to qualify, but they are promoting the belt.

Actually he won last year in September against Onda Goutoku at HEAT 2 by second round (T)KO.

@ K-1 Extremist you might not want to rely on the fight finder statistics too much, they are not that accurate and certainly don't cover every fight...

Since I don't know most of the Asian names that appear in the tournament I don't really know what to think yet, though naturally it seems they want Musashi or Fuji to take it since they are both placed in different (probably weak - 'Randy Kim') brackets so both of them get a chance to fight in the tournament final.
As for the superfights:
Hari vs Graham II > should be a war and is something to look out for.
Aerts vs Pettas > Mismatch! Pettas can't catch a break, they should've placed him in the tournament where he had a decent chance of taking it, but against Aerts I give him a snowballs chance in hell. Too bad!
BTW It's nice to see a new talent in Erhan Deniz get a chance in K-1. If he can control the nerves fighting in front of such a big audience for the first time he shouldn't have a hard time taking care of Kim.
Also good to see Uchida get another shot since he seems a lot more decent and consistant than most other Japanese fighters in K-1.
Edit: I too forgot about Choi vs Goodridge, lol
Well, it should make for an entertaining brawl as long as it lasts and unless Choi walks right into some power shots I don't see Goodridge surviving the first round.

Super fights are awesome! And somehow it seems that K-1 hates Pettas, it think Pettas will break a couple of more bones. :(

If Musashi can beat Fujimoto, yes, otherwise...
Fujimoto is as non-marketable as you could get, and I actually suspect that FEG would prefer Kin (although he is way too light) or even some RK (Random Korean) or even one of those underage Chinese. They could put Sawayashiki in anytime anyway, after all.
But I have a feeling that Musashi will get KTFO with some wild overhand by Park in the first fight.
Also good to see Uchida get another shot since he seems a lot more decent and consistant than most other Japanese fighters in K-1.
He should've been in the tournament instead of fighting a TBA "Hong Kong fighter".
A weak tournament, but that's Asia GP with no Thai fighters. I hope the Chinese fighters are decent.

And forcing Kin, of all people, to fight him is a joke, too.

Well the tourny sucks as usual, but I got Musashi getting revenge and beating Fujimoto in the final.
The superfights are freakin super and I am really looking forward to the Aerts verses Pettas. The Hari fight should be explosive two, but I got golden boy taking that. Infact the only person I have not getting revenge is Pettas, though I would love it if he went the distance.
August is looking good.

He is a former Ssireum champion who beat Choi one time, and HUGE, as Tanikawa once called him a "Korean Hunt". I think he is more of an MMA prospect (although he got his ass whooped by Seiya Naito last year at HERO'S), but he did train MT for some months as well.
He lost to Fujimoto last year via JD, and in that match, Fujimoto pretty much schooled him skill-wise. I'd think if you have good enough technique, you can beat him with relative ease at least by decision. He's tough as hell, and really big, so what you have to be careful about is his one-punch retard strength, and little else. He's just a big, powerful noob. And since this is K-1, not MMA, you shouldn't let that matter that much.
You might be able to find the video of that fight somewhere.

My mind is now with Nicholas Pettas. I cannot imagine that he likes this fight with Peter. The chance of being KO'ed is huge and the risk of getting injured even bigger.
If Hari can break an arm of Pettas, what is Peter going to do? Shredder it?
I hope he will be safed from serious injury this time.

I think he lost the K 3 tournament final to Hippolyte around 94 or 95? He was on a few k-1 cards ( as a middleweight) back in those days.

Taiei Kin is an interesting choice. Back in the day when he was MAX weight he was a very good fighter, even won a Muay Thai title, IIRC.
I don't like the Aerts fight for Pettas. Last fight they had Aerts just overpowered him, and even though he is older and has more mileage I don't think the outcome will be muc different. I'd rather see Pettas fight somebody lower on the food chain, but I guess this is still good.

Kin was a killer back in the day. Solid Seido background (lost in the finals to Satake in one of the championships) Had some wars with Kiasongrit and Orlando Weit. Very good high kick. If MAX had been around then he wouldve been quite a force.

man, Pettas must be the most hated fighter by K-1 for some reason...he should be in a tournament there, not facing a living legend, right after his hand injury. it's just doesn't look good - Aerts could pretty much end up Pettas' career right there with left high kicks. Aerts deserves to end Sapp's career but not Nicks.

I agree with you. In fact I think it's just very dumb from K-1 to feed him to Aerts, especially considering he just comes back from a broken arm injury. Last time around I think Pettas was looking very good; good defense, good boxing and good kicks. I was a bit suprised in the positive sense. They should put him in a tournament indeed, he's entertaining and I'm sure he would do well. Pettas still has the potential to make very entertaining fights, putting him in with Aerts is just stupid.
