View Full Version : TUF Season 7...who should be the coaches?

I have to go with Rampage personally. Rampage on TUF = instant star.
Opposite him could be just about anyone. Hendo, Chuck, Randy.....best would be Wandy though :-)

I think rampage be great for TV but as a coach i dont know he hates training as it is lol.
i say vs hendo would be best cause wandy no english and dan will offset him with his quit way.
how about Nog and Randy ?

30th May 2007, 06:07 AM
Wandy's English is probably about as good as GSP's actually.
And you are correct about Rampage hating training...hell, Sharock never once trained with his guys did he? I think as long as Rampage takes his coach as his *assistant* his guys will get great training while he provides non-stop entertainment for us all.

I haven't been paying attention to TUF since the third edition - and missed the second one completely.
How about Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami?

30th May 2007, 06:16 AM
Well, they will need some guys that can speak SOME English Kamatari!! lol
"I ride you like whore" probably wont quite be enough.

Silva's English has improved but it's still pretty bad, at least last time I heard it.
I think Rampage/Hendo makes more sense than anything but I don't really care for Hendo. Rampage/Liddell would've been better but considering what happened at 71... it wouldn't make sense. It'd probably still sell though.

Well, I'm visualizing Okami standing there with his hands on his hips like David Caruso while Silva's sitting across the other side of the room looking all menacing - silent but violent. Reality TV is just that, you know, if I have to watch it I'll watch Survivor (or The Real World, but pretend I didn't say that).
Is there anyone else that doesn't quite care or am I alone in this? They might as well cut all that shit out and go straight to the fights, I don't care about Gabe and Wang crying.

But what a way to introduce him to the US!

Hendo seems a bit to dry for reality TV. Liddell might work if he gets past his next fight and Rampage beats Hendo......a lead up to the rematch?!!

Sounds like a good first episode, but they need to do it for 15 weeks or however long it goes.

Caruso does it in every episode of CSI Miami and people still watch - it can't be worse than that show, which I'll probably take over TUF.
You're an MMA elitist is all.
I tend to get "bored with MMA" at least 2-3 times a year, while I can watch a marathon of Lumpinee fights that would put anyone to sleep five minutes in. :s

I'm just sick and tired of the formula. If they can like pull it off on an island setting (Survivor) I'll watch, I'd even applaud the stupid challenges.
I still like to skim through an episode from time to time though.

Didn't Sam Greco once have to physically drag Bob Sapp back into the gym when he was training him?
Forget the fact Greco isn't a UFC fighter, I want to to see him training some of the idiots you inevitably get on TUF.

I think Rampage and Silva is a great idea, it wouldn't be too bad as long as Wand has an interpreter. Look at that deaf wrestler guy, he managed to get his point across I doubt Wandy will have that much trouble either.

You could have a Team Quest group of coaches on one side with Follis, Randy, Lindland, Hendo, Soukoudjou and other TUF alumns like Ed Herman.
And on the other, maybe Chute Box or BTT. That could set up some match ups right there. Soukoudjou vs Shogun, Wand vs Hendo or Randy..or maybe Nog vs Randy, Arona & Lil Nog revenge on Soukoudjou!

I'd go for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and either Mirko Cro-cop or Tim Sylvia.
It would be even cooler if it was Nog and Barnett, because everytime those guys go at it we have an awesome show... but Barnett probably isn't down with it. :(
I would definitly pick Nogueira. He might be the best fighter in the UFC right now (and he hasn't even fought!)
He would need to be in with a recognized name or a serious competitor.

Cro Cop would be a good one. I know alot of people say he doesn't have a personality but he is a jokester. He would be fun to watch. He has some kind of reality episode in Croatia, that is on youtube. It is pretty funny. I like the Idea of Tim being the other coach, just because I want to see the show down between him and Cro Cop. :)

Nog is WAY too laid back and level-headed to be dramatic enough for TUF 7.
Mr. Dealy Jab and Crocop could be cool though :-D

Personal dream would be Don Frye and Rampage though, but that won't happen.

Ken Shamrock and Frank Shamrock? (I would really watch this!)
or
Don Frye and Ken Shamrock? (Some old school drama right here)

30th May 2007, 03:28 PM
Yea all would be great, too bad that both Don Frye and Frank Shamrock seems to have some serious hatred towards Zuffa & UFC.
I'd say Rampage vs Chuck seems resonable, by the time TUF 7 it's possibly that Chuck has worked his way for a shot and the fight would sell. Outside of Chuck I'm not sure what other american 205lbs contender they could bring in. I guess Rashad is a possiblity if he beats Tito Ortiz but he's still a pretty fresh face on the scene. Wanderlei would of course be off the chain.

Probably not nowadays...
But Frye would rule only because of his -No BS total badass truck-driver persona!
I think he might even beat Ken in the fight too, he wasn't too shabby against MEGA punk!

^ Sadly I think Frye would rather retire than fight for Zuffa (hang on, that could well be a good thing).

As long as it's established UFC fighter vs a new fighter from PRIDE as the 2 coaches, I'll be happy.

I think that the season seven guys are going to be 185 pounders because that is the division that needs the most. They won't go 205 because it is in shambles as is and having more fighters in a division that is now stacked with Pride fighters would be foolish. So it has to be 185ers of Heavys and I am going with 185s.
So now that I have the division the trainers are going to be Hendo and Franklin. This is more by default really because Okami and Silva don't speak english. Kang would be great, but people in the states know him even less then they know Hendo. Swick should be at welterweight by then. And the fact that I have no more names is even more proof that they need to do the show strictly on 185ers for season 7.

I think you've completely missed the point.
TUF is there to build up the coaches as much (and usually more so) than the fighters.
Though I'd love to see Spike do a serious documentary following coaches like that.

I think some mainstream starpower like Chuck will rejuvenate the show. They need Lidell/Rampage or Lidell/Wand or Randy/Crocop or something like that.
