Any methods for losing water weight? Is it a good idea? I read a quote say "For weight loss the trick is to reduce losing water weight as much as possible so the body is forced to burn more body fat stores." on this site: http://www.weightlossforall.com/losing-water-weight.htm
But I also read the opposite on other sites. Confusing! Any insights into this? I carry lots of muscle and lots of water. Would really like to lose the water.

It doesnt sound like a good idea to me, fighters cut water weight to get under a certain level, then they rehydrate themselves straight away to get themselves back to the same level. Your body needs water and lots of it, if you want to lose weight Id say you need to look at losing the fat, not water.

some folk use coffee as it makes you pee more, some sit in the sauna, wouldn't recommend either to make a fighting weight, if you dehydrate it seriously impairs your ability to perform, you have less fluid to protect your brain (which has a higher % of fluid than the rest of you) your blood thickens etc. V.Bad
Do you know you hold water? talk to your Dr.

You need to drink water to get rid of water. 5-6 Liters a day :)

Cutting water won't help you..
In my case i'm cutting 4-5 kg's to make weight, but this is very hard to do..
Because after you start to drink normally weight wil return.. And you can't be thursty all your life..
I think key to loose weight is to burn more fat than that you are bringing in organism.
Water weight is only good for loosing weight to make weigh-ins..
Especially if you have one day to rehydrate.. Than you will be bigger and stronger.. But if you cut too much, or you are making it wrong way it could be your downfall..

I cut on water weight heavily for a recent fight. Unfortunately the weighin was moved to the late afternoon and the fight was the evening.
I felt absolutely fucked. I'll only cut that much weight if the weigh-in is the day before...

Don't cut then..
You will get dehydrated in match, refuse the match if they screwed you..
Or try to get bigger weight class...

Mike Zambidis made an interesting comment on this in some article. I'll paste it here sometime.
