What do you guys prefer dry or wet shaving? And do you have shaving rituals or some extraordinary shaving equipment?
I definitely prefer wet shaving over dry shaving. Wet shaving gives a better result and a smooth feeling. I use Mach 3 from Gillette and I do not use shaving foam. Instead I use old-fashioned shaving soap together with a shaving brush.
Last week, I ordered an Philips electric shaver in case I do not want to shave wet.
Attn: Razor Bump, why do you choose that name?
Oh, and I'm not interested in other bodily hair people might shave. :P

shaving wet leaves dry irritated skin. i dont prefer it. mach 3 and a facial lotion, or cooling shave gel. (my skin sucks, i gotta take extra fuckin care with it )

Yes, afterwards always apply an aftershave balm.. never aftershave with alcohol or other chemicals, because that fucks up ( to speak in your terms) the skin ever further.

pretty much right on. i am 25 years old now and have finally got down what i need now. i dont ever use chemicals. an aftershave lotion is what i use with vitamins enriched. it doesnt dry out very badly and even helps with razor bumps. the chemicals always made me break out, and would sometimes turn my skin red :(

Well, do you shave the proper way?
Many men do not shave the proper way and torture their faces with the razor.
If you have a really dry skin after you shaved yourself, you might consider to shave you before you go to bed. Of course apply the aftershave lotion and go to bed. When you wake up apply after shave lotion again.
By doing that your skin can recover during the night. Especially in Arizona when the sun burns so hard, this might be better for your skin.

Wet only for me, although it dries my skin it gives the most clean & smooth feeling. After shaving I apply after shave (various brands) to kill off any potential irritations and some lotion (nivea or zwitsal) to get my dehydrated skin shiny again, lol

i usually shave before bed if i have time. come to think of it, my face always seems to do better when i shave that way. sometimes just dont have any kind of time and am dead tired. maybe i need to just do it at night anyways regardless of how tired. see if its better for me.

I shave wet, I have a Gillete Mach 3. I use a shaving foaming lotion and a brush.
I also have some really cheap electric shaver but I use that rarely if I cant be bothered shaving fully.

Dont pretty much all aftershave balms have alcohol?

I'm not sure, but you should try to avoid the ones with alcohol.

I hardly ever shaved before I got that job at the parking garage. Once a week with the trimmer was enough for me.
I do have a nice schaving apparatus, the Philips coolskin: you can use some sort of shaving (word finding problem) emulsion or whatever wich emulates wet shaving. I ran out of the stuff and found out that dry shaving is just as easy for those two days in a week I work. Oh one day a week from now on, I got a bit fed up with working saturday nights...

Both lol I use the Philips everyday i leave the house then depends on if i need it i use the razer mach 3 power to do the burns and chin and such.
Razer is the best result but the more u use it the faster it grows so if u use electric it does not get thicker.

Why did you not shave that much? Don't you have enough beard growth or were not too lazy to shave? Do you want to look more mature?
I mean, I'm not heavily beared, but when I use a razor I shave every other day. So at least 3 and sometimes 4 times a week.
With the electric shaver I shave every day.

Your last sentence is a fable.
Many people traditionally believed that shaving would cause the hair shaved to become thicker and darker. However, this bit of conventional wisdom has been disproven. The resulting stubble only makes the hairs seem to be thicker, as a shaved hair has a blunt end as opposed to the tapered end of an unshaven hair, and because hair is often darker in color near the root. Clinical studies have demonstrated that shaving does not have an effect on hair growth rates or density.

Electric razor on my face and head is fine, but not on my necl...it gives me a rash. Using a blade is the best for me....but then I always seem to be cutting my head for some reason.

Wet, with gel that foams up (much more comfortable than mere foam, and it lets me get a closer shave). I have to have a mirror. Generally I hate shaving, especially if I'm tired and either haven't shaved in a few days or shaved late in the previous day. But I like shaving in that it makes me feel disciplined and organized, because I feel like a slob if I don't.
