Can't believe I didn't start a thread about this earlier. Anyway, results of yesterdays first tournament in Zwolle, the Netherlands. Winner of the 8 men tournament advances to the final 8 tournament. -75KG this is btw

Karapet vs Yucel Fidan --> Karapet on points
Amir Zeyada vs Ruben vd Giessen --> Zeyada on points
Lhouzine Ouzgni vs Henry "Superpiele" Akdeniz ---> Ouzgni on points
Tarek Slimani vs Sem Braan --> Slimani on KO 1st round

semis:

Karapet vs Zeyada --> Karapet on points
Slimani vs Vd Giessen (instead of an injured Ouzgni) --> Slimani on points

final:

Slimani vs Karapet --> Karapet on points.

Superfight: Ricardo van den Bosch vs Nourdin Zourdani --> Van den Bosch on KO 3rd round

Superfight 2: Gago Drago vs Ray Staring --> Drago wins on KO, 4th round.

Pretty OK event, with a few upsets and some questionable decisions. Karapet was scoring a little bit more but Zeayda knocked him down. Still Karapet got the split decision of a higher workrate and scoring more points overall. Still debatable if the knockdown should be counted more, maybe an extra round would have been in place.

That is the kind of win that keeps you sharp for the WGP. This is why Masato is slipping behind. He needs to fight more to notch dudes.

yep, this was the re-rematch.

This was their third fight. First won by Drago (b-class fight btw), second by Staring and now Drago again.

Drago bounced back on Starring huh? Okay. How good did he look in the fight? Was it a war or one sided.

It was most definately a war. Pretty even up until the fourth round when Drago knocked Staring down and finished it soon after.

Karapet vs zeyada --> Karapet on points

did you guys see this match? I watched it yesterday and thought that the decision was bs. Zeyada was better all around and scored a knock down... I can`t see how someone could give it to Karapet. he was constantly looking that he has no power behind his shots and everything he threw went to guard. Zeyada looked more impressive with those power shots and he scored at least hits to the head not in guard. Also his lowkicks were more impressive.

Is it possible that it was Ricardo van den Bos? I remember this name as he fought in Oceania for a little while, and impressed me vs Jason Suttie. Its probably the same guy... nice to see him pick up a KO win.

The thing I remember about him are his nice high kicks.

Oh btw, I saw the English broadcast and Will Vanders had another great one! While Zeyada was walking to the ring he said something like:

"Representing Egypt...... strangely enough his favourite fighter is Mirko Milosevic"

Oh man, I wasn't the only one who noticed! I was saying it to my roommate: 'did I hear that correctly???'

Mirko is a badass and murdered a lot of people, but not literally :P
