Hope someone can answer this. I take omega3 in the morning and multivitamins before I go to bed, giving me a daily dose of 1600 mikrograms of vitamin A, 10 mikrograms of vitamin D and 20 mikrograms of vitamin E. The recommended daily doses are 800, 5 and 10 mikrograms. Is this safe? I know that overdosing vitamin A and E is much worse than, say vitamin C. Thanks for any replies.

It is not that an overdose, usually fat-soluble vitamins are less safe to over-dose than water-soluble yet the body has the capacity to destroy/remove the excess if not very large. My question is why would you want to take vit. A supplements, and I have a general problem with this as A avitaminosis is exceptional with the diet of nowadays I mean problems can occurr at incredible poor diet in poor countries. Combining omega-3 is not a problem. I'd simply take any vitamin combination without too many liposolubles - they are pretty useless and even vit. E is not such a cornerstone in the diet of a sportsman although many supplements include it. In fewer words - benefits are under benefit of doubt. Second problem - intermitent administrations (say one month on and one off) are a good way to avoid overdosing. Most vitamins have a buffer in the organism. It will not lead to depletion to break the administration here and there. Vitamins act as consumable catalysts, therefore once peak is reached they will not act better by taking more, but just buffer (and the threshold between simple stock and toxic effects is tighter in fat-soluble ones).

I don`t take vit.A specifically, it "comes along" with the multivitamin. Thanks for the detailed answer:)

Personally I feel a little extra vitamin supplementation isn't going to harm you at all. The RDA is set for the average person. We, as athletes, are not the average person. We tend to use vitamins and nutrients at a much faster pace than the average person. So therefore, why should our vitamin supplementation be of the average person? ;)
IOW - You are not overdosing.
