The event had 5 matches.
Ionut "Pittbull" Atodiresei took a rather unusual challenge - to fight two fresh opponents one after another in the same night.
It was even more difficult taking into account his recent move-up in the scale at -67 from -64.
Abdoussamed Deliaoglu (Turkey) is WKN kickboxing champion and was the first opponent. The match was 3X3 Thaiboxing Int.
rules (no elbows, limited clinching). Deliaoglu scored early with many kicks mostly at the midsection and earned the first
round on the cards. Second round, Atodiresei found his distances and took over quite in a hurry over all the arsenal - punches,
kicks, knees. Bodypunching took over Deliaoglu's gas and in the third he was nailed repeatedly on the ropes weathering the
full scale of the arsenal. A unanimous decision for Ionut 29-28 on all cards.
At lightheavy kickboxing rules Mohammad Kodad (Fr) met Ionut Iftimoaie's student the Ashihara top stylist and "debutant of
the year" 2004 kickboxer Nicu Dascalu. Kodad went for punches in the 1-st but southpaw Dascalu took over and counterattacked
to set also distance for devastating inside tigh kicks. The second full option sent Kodad down in pain. He was saved by the bell
only to take 3 more knockdowns in the 2-nd, where the refferee declared obviously TKO. Iftimoaie was cheered by the crowd as
coach after many asame as fighter.
Two heavyweight rookies, Mihaita Golescu, who is a natural heavy with a good recent evolution, and the debutant Catalin Morosanu
met on K-1 rules. It was expected to be an easy match for Golescu as Morosanu is climbed from so low as 75 kg to as high as 95.
Totally surprising, soutpaw Morosanu punished Golescu with body punches early, taking considerably out of his stamina. The match
went quite bananas and chaotic and it was ruled a draw after 3 rounds, then Golescu, considerably drained, lost the extra one
to the young newcomer.
The revenge match of Catalin Zmarandescu and Ciprian Sora (they met during the spring and Zmarandescu lost by UD a 5-rounder
K-1 rules) was "the" controversial match of the Romanian scene. They had a lot of bad blood in the press even prior to the first meeting.
Zmarandescu took it as a "win or die" approach. Sora was not willing to yield to a 1-1 and an "unfinished business" for as obvious
reasons. Differing totally from the first encounter, which was a technical and tactical meeting, the second one went wild from the start.
The match started with Zmarandescu throwing wild punches. Sora picked a low pace and countered with kicks and occasionally
placed an odd knee. Zmarandescu took the round on 2 of 3 cards. During the second, Sora took over quite on the whole and his
knees at the liver drained down Zmarandescu, who lost pace, but it costed Sora a halfpoint for double kneeing. Point at which came
"the" controversial stuff. Zmarandescu hit low with apparently (didn't saw exactly) a knee or a legkick. Sora was on the attack, with
Zmarandescu backing on the ropes and made a signal lowering a hand to reclaim the foul, but kept pressuring. The refferee approached
in a hurry (Sora was with his back at him) but hesitated a fraction of a second whether to order stop or let Sora to continue, as he
was not impaired. Ultimately after no more than 1/2 seconds the ref shouted "Stop". Zmarandescu, who saw Sora reclaiming foul,
was seeing the ref. Sora was not. Zmarandescu lowers the guard. At this point Sora had a rocket sky high uppercut unloading and
ultimately connecting, on the replay - at 0.4 seconds after the ref had his mouth shut. Zmarandescu went on the canvas flat and out.
It was such an intense debate that fans of football (Team Zmarandescu is supported by a large club, owning one of the best local
teams) went on the stadiums with insulting slogans for Sora. Sora on his own reclaimed it was a legit ko, with such a short interval
from order to the blow. It was finally ruled a no-contest, the match being scheduled for 5 rnd and interrupted in the 2-nd.
Last match - Ionut Atodiresei, quite bruised from the first match and facing the debute of a flu, went for Modibo Diarra (Fr), the young
coqueluche of savate scene in France. The French felt Atodiresei puffing and not so aggressive as he was in his first meeting
and danced around with a lot of kicks, then also with knees. Atodiresei went for wild punches and occasionally Diarra went to the canvas
head down first from savage lowkicks taking the floor from under his feet, but Diarra scored sensibly more. A UD for Diarra.

Ionut would win a rematch. It is weird that he lost because I really wanted him to be chosn buy the Max next year.

Atodiresei is a tough fighter. Maybe the best in Romania. I think he had bad luck. However...he is preparing for the fight against Samir Mohammed wich will take place in March I think.

It was indeed bad luck (he started to rise temperature and feel bad at the hotel right before the fight) but also a weight issue. The weight agreed was 67 kg. Both opponents came heavier, I don't know exactly with how much, but it was very likely above 70 kg both. My colleague Alin Panaite who is in charge of Ionut did not protest, because actually 70 is where Ionut will need to rise if there's a trace of hope he can fight Max division. In any event, both were good fights and Diarra won, ok, but not without losing contact with the ground several times :) I will come back with photos when I get more, some are quite entertaining to see :)
