I hope they get someone good to replace him. Quadros wouldn't be bad but I doubt they get him. I'm probably the only person in the world who would think this is a good idea but here goes: TJ De Santis! :) Bring the hilarity!

Isnt that both Bas and Mauro that have left pride because of the US production team?
I cant think of anyone at all to replace him, I havnt heard an English commentator that I like for a long time.

If only they didn't have to hype the great sport of MMA or the organisation (Pride in this case) they work for so much. I mean big percentage of MMA commentary is something like this:
-"This is what the UFC IS ALL ABOUT FELLAS..."
-"Here in the Pride Fighting Championship the safety of the fighters..."
-"A lot of times when you see a boxer or a wrestler [...something something...] but MMA is a whole different game. These are world class athletes and..."
-"In no other sport..."
-"There has never been a serious injury or a death in the history of..."
...You get the point. I liked the commentary on the last ADCC DVD. Just cold technical explanation of every single movement of a foot, leg, hand, arm, toe, finger etc. When every little movement is given significance by the commentator, all of a sudden a "boring ground fight" turns into an exciting chess match.

I think Quadros got fired by Japan no? Even still Bas and now this guy have had problems with the US. I remember Mauro saying he had no legal ties at all with DSE Japan as he was employed and paid by DSE USA.

Necrio is right. Qudros was fired when DSE changed US production crew. New producer replaced him with Mauro.
I am no fan of Mauro, but there must be something wrong with DSE US and threir main producer.
(But while he is on fire he should get rid of Trigg too.... ;-)

Not sure if its due today or tomorrow but I'm a member at www.f4wonline.com and Ranallo is due on their radio show to talk about this. When I've heard what he has to say I'll post some notes.
Its been pretty rare that I actually get the US version of shows recently but when I have I've always liked Ranallo. Very good commentator for the general, casual viewer who doesn't know that much.

Update:
Listened to the show earlier. Basically it was an issue between Ranallo and Jerry Millen. He never named Millen specifically but its pretty clear it was him. Mauro talked about how much he respected and liked everyone else in Pride but could no longer put up with Millen's total lack of respect for him. Ranallo also has a new job as the main face and commentator for the Fight Network in Canada so the cushion of that probably helped, even though his Fight Network deal specifically gave him time off to do Pride shows. Ranallo said he wasn't fired and he quit instead.

Well, many times when they don't want to fire you directly, they make your life misrable and eventually you find something else and you quit.
Thanks for the update.

I want Quadros and Bas back!
Quadros as expert commentator and Bas as color commentator, they rocked.

Und das sagt Bas:
I had to say something here. Mauro is the best play by play guy. The fact that he's gone with Pride is not a good thing for Pride, Frank Trigg? I like Trigg, and I really hope they find a good guy for him to work with. The problem is that when Millen finds that guy, I don't know.... Ask some professionals, how easy is that?
Karma has struck already to some people in Pride, and when Karma hits Millen, he will have a big problem. I can go on and on about this guy but I won't, you already heard the radio thing that he did with Dana and man, how can you even think that this is the right way to act? What was he thinking? "Let's promote MMA the right way and lets start a yelling contest on the radio so that ALL the rest of the world thinks good about MMA" (Didn't we try to make MMA mainstream and try to avoid all the aggressive stuff around MMA?) Yes we did and thank God that Dana had his number that time on the radio and will get it every time they have something against each other again, why? Dana is way more educated than Millen is in MMA.
I won't say anything about him right now, only if he gets in the "attack mode" with me, I will give it to ho him and than you guys have a lot of fun. So only THAN I will inform the people what kind of guy he really is.
Mauro has always been "hold back", he never could be the funny guy, he never could be the guy who understands submission moves etc. If Mauro would make a joke, Millen would be right away in his ear speaking that he couldn’t do that, and later they edited that piece out. If Mauro would say “Wow, that’s a great Kimura” Millen would second guess Mauro and asked over the headsets to me; “Is that a Kimura Bas?” Stuff like that. Trust me, for whatever organization Mauro is going to work with, I hope they let him be MAURO and don't put so many restrictions on him, just like with me and Stephen. Than you guys will see that he's really good!
OK guys! Just did a nice interview for a doc about MMA, these people are going to show MMA in a real good light, and that's what we want!
Keep supporting the course and steer away from violence in MMA because that's what the "outside world" wants to see, so please don't give it to them.
Godspeed everybody!
