Just got word from a good source that this fight will be taking place in December.
Who takes it?

Buentello by actually being a natural heavyweight.

Thats an interesting fight for sure. I never underestimate Alister, so will say him by sub.

Yeah... it wouldn't surprise me if Alistair took this one to the ground for a sub. But I think Alistair's better standing than Buentello. Really I think Buentello's best shot at winning is whethering an early storm and hopefully landing a clean one to Alistair's chin.
I think it might look like Alistair/Liddell... should be good.

Buentello definitely has the power to hurt Overeem but I think Alistair is a much better all around fighter and will take him out.
Overeem by working the ground.

Here's my take:
Buentello has fast and powerful strikes for a heavyweight. He has decent kickboxing.
Alistair has real kickboxing though, even if he has never accomplished anything on the world level.
It does not play into Alistair's best interests to stand with a natural heavyweight striker, even if Alistair can hang with him.
Alistair is one of the best submission fighters out of Europe as far as the MMA game is concerned. His recent plague of injuries and heartbreaking defeats do little to deter his ability to turn any match into a competitive fight.
While Buentello certainly is no stranger to the ground, Alistair's height and build (as well as natural talent) make him a danger.
If this goes past the first two rounds, I am thinking Buentello has it. If Alistair finishes it, I think he will finish it early.

I don't think Buentello is even near the caliber of the fighter OVereem is, so I limit his chances of winning to a puncher's chance. That could be because I'm uneducated about Buentello, and completely missing something about his game. I've seen him only in the UFC. And, he didn't fight top competition there, unless you count the 15 second knockout loss he suffered to Andrei Arlovski. I'm sure a lot of others share that impression of Buentello, so if anybody has something good to tell us about him, speak up! :-)

+1.
After rocking Buentello twice, a gassed Kevin Jordan taps after falling to bottom and ending up in a neck-crank, but probably taps more directly from the exhaustion he feels laying on his back again, and it gets written down as a 1-arm-guillotine. LOL. Yes, Paul Buentello, that's very impressive. ;-)
1-arm-guillotines and 15-second-knockouts, though, begs for something interesting against Overeem.

Am a little surporised Strikeforce even brought Overeem back after the disgraceful performance he put on in the Belfort 'fight'.
