Hello Everybody. This is my first post and I decided that I would let you in on the title of a little known photo-documentary book on the real daily life and training that a Muay Thai trainee goes through in Thailand. I lucked out and found this book title whiel searching for something else entirely, but if there is any photo book out there that will inspire you to get up off your duff and do at least a small portion of what a Thai kid in a Thailand boxing camp has to endure on a daily basis for 6-8 (or more) hours a day, this is it. You thumb through this baby and you won't be able to make excuses about why you don't feel like training today or tomorrow.
The book is MUAY THAI: THE BOXERS OF THAILAND by Jeremy Skaggs (http://MTBoxers.com). I will bet you dollars to doughnuts that you have never heard of, or seen, this book anywhere. I know I didn't know it existed.
Click on the title or do a Google title/author search, look at exerpts from the book and let me know what you think. I don't know the guys who put this book together, but I hope they put out more volumes like it because they really know how to photograph the heart and soul of Muay Thai and it's homegrown practitioners.
You might also want to check out a really inspiring video clip on YOUTUBE.COM titled "Kickboxer Kid" ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGnaOQigIlU that has to be seen to be believed. By the time the kid reaches his sixteenth birthday he should be well on his way to a Bangkok stadium Muay Thai title! Right now he has functional and lethal skills that you seldom see in even seasoned martial artists. I have been involved in fighting arts since the late fifties, and this kid is in my hall of fame already. Whew! This will give you an understanding about why the Thai's are the best in the world in their sport, and incredibly lethal fighting machines period.
Your comments are welcome, and I will respond to your messages.
Tranquility!
