S-Cup Final
Ken-ichi Ogata def. Andy Souwer by 3-0 decision

how legitimate was this decision? Because I remember Souwer knocking down Ogata like three or four times when they fought in 2002 or 2003. And I mean Ogata's decision win against Ono recently wasn't particularly convincing either imo.

Of course I giving Ogata an MMA guy and having another Caesar guy in the same bracket almost guaranteed a Ceasar fighter in the finals, not to mention the semis.

Still I mean Ogata definitely didn't take the nearly every round a knockdown kind of treatment like their last fight so he's improved. But I just have trouble imagining this especially since Souwer has systematically pwned like everyone from Caesar's gym at some point (Doi, Shishido, Shinobu, Ogata), it seems like he pretty much had their number. This ending to the fight just seems so much like wish fulfillment for the org.

Still I hold till I see the fight.

Don't want to bitch or anything. But I arrived in Japan via a 25hr flight from S Africa thursday evening.I was half asleep in the ring as a result of this.Dawson took the 1st the 2nd being a gimme and the 3rd me having him out on his feet basically.I did not expect him to advance as he was really gassed in our war.

Just wanted you guys to hear it from me the actual participant.

If only I were in the other freakin bracket ....lol.

Nice work Virgil. Sounds like you really gave Dawson a tough fight despite being out-of-sorts. And Dawson is a tough hombre.

Anyone get downed?

My friend said that Souwer didn't look that great in all three of his fights and that seems to be the case judging from the reports I've read. It'll air tomorrow - for all you Japan-based and pirate folk out there.

Sux not to see Virgil and Jordan take their fights, but I guess the result is great for the promotion?

Souwer should take it easy for a few months. All the fighting he's done this year against the top guys could burn him out next time he steps into a ring... he needs to get his edge back because when he's on form he's brilliant.

Sounds odd considering that the scores show that Andy scored 30 on all the judges score cards. If he had been dropped in the first round and won the rest his score shouldve read 28.

The scores were: 28-27、28-26、28-26

While your at it, I'm curious too now LOL.

Pretty disappointing for Andy. Hoped he would have spiked his third consecutive title. But nonetheless he did well, at least for the results, have to see it how he fought (but with the knockdowns... not too great I guess).

That is one cool belt. I am glad for Ogata and like Tommy I am wondering if Max will give him a call.

I thought Souwer could have gotten a draw from the final fight, you could argue he won both rounds 2 and 3. You can't argue with the knockdown though, while it looked relatively soft it was legit.

Dawson looked good (did he take the fight on short notice?) shame it was at the expense of Virgil.

I had it 10-8, 9-10, 10-10, last round was close, but a draw wouldn't have surprised me.

Fighters are most of the time making excuses as to why they lose fights but guys bear with me.I arrived in Tokyo thusday evening walked straight into the press conference as was seen by my attire. As the time difference is 7hrs tried to rest but had about 1hr of sleep. As the fighters were being introduced I was sitting backstage waiting for my name to be called out and guess what.... I fell asleep.

The reason I tell you all this is that I am pissed about this fight as I trained really hard for this event and these circumstances counted against all the hard work I put in.

Take nothing away from Dawson but I was far from my best.

To the haters say what you want that I'm bitching that I was outclassed blah blah blah.....I'm just telling it like it is!

I dont think anyone will take anything away from you. You have over and over shown you are more than capable of competing against the best in the world. This loss, in my eyes, doesnt make me think any less of what you are capable of - specially when hearing the story behind it.

I know you will revenge this loss on your next opponent!

Good luck in your next fight, and may it be in K-1 Max so we can all watch it!

Keep it up!
