FFS, that was the best fight on the card and probably the most intriguing too. This really, really blows.

Clay Fucking French will be taking Melendez place vs Aoki.

Ok, wth is Clay French? :)
He probably gets submitted, but taking a fight on this short notice takes some guts, so props to him.

if he has no relation to Mike French, then he might last half a round. otherwise, he probably gets subbed in 2 minutes.

Great, a nobody. I was hoping they'd get somebody like Hansen or Sakurai (rematch) that wouldve been awesome but i guess its hard to get such fighters on a short notice.

Any truly top level fighter would be insane to take a fight like this on such short notice.

Except if:
1. they are ready coz they had a fight cancelled
2. they are ready coz they will have to fight soon but in a smaller event ( all events are smaller than Pride!)
3. Badly need money (after alll they dont risk that much a KO but more a sub)
4. Big Balls....

yep...he has a nice record, only 1 loss and the majority of his wins by submission...but of course, no top level competition.
from what i read he is a militech fighter (it could be outdated info though) and like every other militech fighter was being called 'the next matt hughes' in one of his fight reviews.
but yeah, aoki by first round sub...what a dissapointment
aoki vs melendez TO ME is worthy of being on the NYE card haha. i hope at least one of them fights on at Shockwave.
