He would be wrong.......

I very much like the fact that they brought a "PRIDE" show to the US as much as they could, rather than mix everything up so it was nothing more than a UFC show with poor English from the officials. Bar the fighting rules, everything else was exactly as it happens here, including the intermission.

I cannot believe people bitched about the intermission either. Sure, they may not have paid for it, but they paid for a card of which they got to see ALL fights LIVE despite what they stupidly considered as PRIDE killing time.

ya. i had to let people know that PRIDE isnt live here in the US, until last night. PRIDE always have intermissions. they get cut out for the US show because it isnt live. and as you said, they also cut out fights with that intermission. no reason to hate. they always do it that way live.

seems Dana didn't even go to the event.

That's so rude of ZUFFA not to send Dana White. Now it seems to me that ZUFFA's scared to step to DSE.
Everyone knows that competition is great for business, and the way I see it it's going to be ZUFFA vs DSE for the next few events.

I heard the Ferttita brothers were there in the front row.

"Pride trying to get traction off us," White said in an e-mail Monday when asked his thoughts about Silva's challenge.

To be honest the intermission pissed me off. Not so much that it was there, just that the pay-per-view production crew were so unprepared. The dancing Pride girls was fine, as were the announcements but I'd much preferred some good 'History of Pride' or 'Awesome Finishes' type video packages to replying parts of fights we'd seen a few minutes earlier.

Other than that I loved this show.

You are a whinging pom though....lets not forget!! lol

That is a good point. They had 35 minutes there where they could have really shown what PRIDE was all about to everyone in attendance and all the PPV buyers. If nothing else they could have done a subtile beatdown on UFC fighters with their champs getting beaten in PRIDE, some build up of fighters like Silva, Mirko and other stars not on this card that may well be in the Feb show.

They dropped the ball there for sure.

I still say I would prefer to get all the fights on the card and a break half way to go and relieve myself, than get half the fights with a chance at getting some more if the second half fights are all short though.

My trainer in Vegas is affiliated with Zuffa. He gets tickets compet to almost every fight event in Vegas. For some reason, he didn't get Pride tickets.

So Dana backed out of going to the show. Didn't he state in a public he would go?

I think at the post-press conference for the last UFC show he said something like "I'll be there"

The Meltz on Figure 4 radio, by way of Fightopinion.com

UFC’s reaction to PRIDE’s first Las Vegas event: UFC staff thought that the PRIDE show overall (specifically the presentation of it) sucked. UFC believes in getting over their core business (MMA) as a sport and not like professional wrestling (even with the crossover of pro-wrestling fans they have). UFC thinks that for the press and mainstream media, shows have to be presented as a sporting event and that the presentation PRIDE used made their event look like a sideshow attraction (like pro-wrestling). UFC believes that this is the wrong method to use for production and that in American culture, it will not go over well (specifically with sportswriters who will look at it as just an entertainment show).

On UFC & PRIDE drawing hardcore fans: There is internal expectation from promoters that hardcore fans will spend so much money, that the tickets are priced very high. Casual fans are willing to spend $35, $40, maybe $50 USD for a ticket, but they will not spend $200 to see an event. PRIDE & UFC are turning off casual fans from being potential customers, just like boxing has done with past live events.

WWE’s thoughts on the PRIDE event: Bryan Alvarez noted that WWE internally had a negative viewpoint on PRIDE’s production values for the Las Vegas show. “They were down on the production.”

He had a ticket.

Maybe he just stayed home to watch the 4 hours of UFC knockouts or whatever they had on Spike TV that night.

Thought the same thing, Ken vs tito drama can it be more prowrestling with faked "fights" to conviniently end a the reality drama show and hype the fight.

I also think the pride presentation is more like a sport with the ring and everything around and with the audience its must appear so much more professional to critics and new viewers.

Seemed like i was correct on the "sucked" part... high odds on that one... couldnt they have left that word out atleast and tried to look more professional in their (for sertain to come) critic now its like a disgrunted baby in the sandbox.
