He already had the blueprint! He just didn't follow through! Baroni on the other hand... I wanted a pure standup fight, but I can't fault a guy for fighting smart.

Random notes: Wanderlei living in a dream world. Nishijima didn't tap. Fedor vs Coleman II = Fedor vs Coleman I with one warm up round. Pawel Nastula looked better than ever. I would have been happy to see him get the decision victory.

Yeah, because we were all ignorant of Butterbean's awesome takedown defense. It's not our fault O'Haire didn't do what Baroni did, exploit your opponent's weakness.

the point was, he CANT exploit the weakness, because Sean has a weakness for himself he cannot overcome: being a really really bad fighter.

Why is Wanderlei in a dream world?

Still, the fact that people pick a fighter with at least SOME experience (O'Haire) over somebody with NO experience on the ground, it's not completely out of the question to predict the former to win, no matter how bad he may be.
Doesn't really matter, Butterball won, hopefully we'll never see him again.

no experience on the ground, yet he has won most of his fights on the ground. hmmmm..... not saying he is anything of a threat on the floor, but did you even do your homework on this one?

O'Haire should have done what Baroni did, but he didn't. I don't really doubt that O'Haire is better on the ground.
My God, we're arguing about Butterbean and Sean O'Haire!

O'Haire doesn't have the skills to do to Butterbean what Baroni did to Nishijima.

Ive only seen numbers around 11.700 and 10.500 paying.
Well correct numbers will probably be relased pretty soon, along with the payscales.
Still, as you said, a good attendance.

O'Haire shouldn't have fought like Baroni in takedown --> pound --> sub. The blueprint for beating Butterbean is dropkick --> let him fall on you --> sub. The hardest part is the dropkick! Now admittedly, I only remember him doing the Seanton Bomb and some variation of the DVD once he got to WWE, but I'm sure he had an ok dropkick. Maybe he doesn't have to reflexes to land on his feet after (ala Minowa's 1st attempt), but that isn't the important part of the gameplan.

Sylvia weighed in at 254 last fight, so it's no sure thing that he could make SHW anymore.

Well I don't see him fighting Chuck in Pride in February. Do you?
But maybe Sakakibara and White become best friends in a few months and put on Sherk vs Gomi, Hughes vs Filho, A. Silva vs Henderson, Liddell vs W. Silva, Sobral vs Shogun, Fedor vs Sylvia, etc. Pride vs UFC Extravaganza...

Its the same way with the ufc events i would presume only theese tickets might be hotter comodity for the casinos since they can treat coustomers to more of a show/classy like event and it was something new aswell.
Aslong as pride gets paid for the seats dont think it matters much if the as filling the chair paid or not.
Ragarding the numbers i have seen the same ones as seese 17702 in attendence or so and 10500 paying. Great numbers and i think they managed to pull off a good show with the intentions they had.
Nice to se the audience was alot more respectfull aswell atleast sounded that way. More hardcore fans i guess.

Nastula vs Barnett: Anyone think that at the end of the first round, Barnett (unintentionally) cranked the submission after the bell?

hes 6'8". he could make 300 if he wanted. when he did fight at 290, was vs wes sims, and previous to that he was cutting to 265. its not THAT far off really.

I thought so at first, but at the end of the fight it was his knee that was bothering him so then I wondered if the pain at the end of the first came from dropping down hard on his knees.

It was a good show, I liked the crowd (especially when they booed the nsac) but got pissed when they started to boo nastula when it was on the ground. And its never fun when Dan wins (if he isnt fighting tim sylvia). Nakamura/Galbraith was the best fight of the night.

What got me pissed even more was that Herb Dean was constantly asking for more action once the fight went to the ground and almost immediately after the boos he proceded by standing it up. I didn't like it as Nastula worked hard to get the takedown spending a lot of energy and was pretty busy in my opinion, too. I don't know what was he expecting from Pawel, to submitt Josh in a couple of seconds?

Agree...sucks to be stood up when you have your opponent in the side-mount.

Yeah, Its like that in the UFC too, when the fans start to boo the nsac refs seems to get stressed or something and it influences their calls on stand-ups.

It also stresses the fighter and forces them to make mistakes, only due to the fact that they know they will get stood up if they cant catch their opponent with something pretty soon. So it probably gives us less good groundfights too as they cant work for better positions.

Exactly. They shouldn't listen to the crowd but concentrate only on the fight itself.
