View Full Version : Matt Lindland back to UFC?

Seems having a non-US, non-English speaking, non-white champion has already worn its welcome for some at UFC ;-)
Inside sources have informed us that the UFC has contacted Matt Lindland to face their new Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva. Lindland's takedown skills and ability to take out top strikers have the UFC intereseted in a matchup between him and the Brazilian standup ace. After defeating Jeremy Horn and barely losing a razor thin decision to Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Matt has become the hot commodity at 185lbs. There are 2 factors impeding the scheduling of this match. Number 1 is that Matt still has a fight left in his WFA contract. The second issue is money.
The rest is here. (http://graciefighter.com/?page=news&PHPSESSID=25de70ca9129d4eceaa76a483158120b)

truly hope anderson silva becomes as dominant in ufc as our own wand.silva has owned in pridefc at his weightclass, an agressive striker would do sooo much for the ufc.
the wrestlerstyles when half and half lay and pray is so god damn boring, just check florian vs sherk... sherks inability to end the fight or do damage is just, amazing for beeing a champion.. put him vs gomi please.

Lindland should hold them up for as much money as he can possibly squeeze out of them.
UFC have NO idea how to market non-Americans so this is hilarious stuff.

Im also enjoying this situation emensly... would be even funnier if silva only had a one fight deal with ufc and now took dana to the bank or left.
If he has more fights on his contract he should start pulling titos, picking tuf challengers untill his contract runs out.

You're right....Anderson Silva has so much leverage at this point its rediculous. He must know how much money the UFC is pulling in these days. Considering how he got the title by walking through Leben and their champ w/ Franklin, he should settle for no less than a contract based on ppv percentage.
The UFC can not afford another BJ Penn situation, where a title holder walks away as the champion....and both parties know that. And if somehow Silva did pull a BJ, you'd know all the rival organizations would be bending over backwards to get him.

I think that they will kick Silva out if he ask too much...
Even if its unconfortable, they will do it, no doubt...and Franklin will get his title back after beating Swick at UFC 68! lol

Isn't it time they forgave Marquardt for UFN1?

I don't think Marquardt has earned a title shot yet. Lindland should get the first try against A. Silva, with a fight between Marquardt and Swick to determine the number 2 contender.

Marquardt is taking on Lister at next show. if he beats lister, he should be in line for the title imo. will be like what, 4 wins for him in ufc if he wins it? maybe 3. but enough either way.

Well, he beat Salaverry but that probably did as much, if not more damage to him than a loss would have. Then he beat Doerksen and looked very, very good in the win over Crafton Wallace. A win over Lister SHOULD put him in line for a title shot BUT a Silva-Marquardt main event would draw a truly shitty buy rate so it'd have to go on the same show as a really big fight.
Also, are people forgetting the unfortunate winner of the MW division on TUF4 gets to face Silva?

Lister subbed Nate pretty easily in ADCC comp, but in mma...i see Nathan beating his head in standing.
