It is official.....though I am not sure if back to back events is good for their fan-base in japan.

I really hate it that knees and kicks are not allowed to a downed opponent in Nevada.

One Pride event per year in the USA(Las Vegas) is fine, but I think they should stick to their roots, Japan.

MMA is blowing up here. they want the market. i assume to see at least 2 or 3shows in 2007 from PRIDE in the USA.

I agree. They should either allow knees/kicks on downed opponent or elbows or both. It just looks ridiculous when e.g. a fighter gets side mount and can't do shit because everything is forbidden. All he can do is slap some three-inch-punches ala Bruce Lee and maybe make the opponents nose itch.

the knees/kicks and stomps are out of the question, as its NSAC rules. Elbows, however, could be allowed if PRIDE wanted. they just chose not to allow them.

Why should they allow elbows?

Rules will stay like that, there is no way that Pride will allow the elbow!
its kinda an UFC image!

Well, because they're allowed under the NSAC rules.

And I'm not sure whether elbows would be a bad thing. It's just another effective way of finishing a fight. I'd like to see fights finished in as many ways as possible instead old school Rings (no striking to the head on the ground...)

Yeah I know they cut easily and might cause more Kohsaka vs Fedor stuff. But still...no Rings please :)

I think you stretch it way too far beeing concerned that the action on the ground/in the guard wont be effective enough the finish the fights. Its not only about winning but also entertainment. Elbows is just another way of finishing fights prematurely. And the old school groundfighting if Rings is nowhere near the level we see in groundfights in Pride today. Its a totally different sport, and elbows wouldnt contribute in any positive way to the evolvement of Pride in the US.

Agreed. Personally I don't miss the stomps and knees as they're something I have mixed feelings on anyway. Didn't miss elbows at all.

I think we should have a PRIDE show here in the US every month.

I hope they don't follow strikeforce in going from great numbers to shit. Strike #1 was something near 18000. Strike #1 was 3500.

A 100$ question: How many people attended Strike #1?
