Inspired from the "What are YOU eating?"-thread, where we're reminded to eat often like 5-6 times again, I'm wondering when you guys take time to cook. It takes some preparation to get it done, so do you have a big cookout at home once a week and put it all in the fridge? Do you get a lot of raw foods, like vegetables and fruit, to make it easier for your snacks? Do you put it all in boxes labeled "Monday", "Tuesday", "Friday"? :-) I.e. how far do you go to have this all prepared? Cause I find it tedious to cook, especially in the workweek when I'm tired. Then there's the other part that like chicken does get really, err, "chewy" after being in the fridge for a short while so I never hit up a larger preparation of that. Unless somebody has some good tips or recipes for that!

On Sunday night I throw almost 2 pounds of chicken on the grill with different seasonings. I make a gigantic pot of brown rice, and boil about 2 dozen eggs. Then in my freezer are about 10 pounds of frozen vegetables. I cut up 2 bags of romaine lettuce and put it in a bowl in the fridge.

Then when it comes time to pack my meals its quite simple.

Meal 1:
Protein Shake w/ bowl of oats - That's quick and easy and takes no prep time.
Meal 2:
Lettuce with a Can of Tuna Fish - Again the lettuce is all cut up, throw it in a bowl and top it with the tuna
Meal 3:
Chicken w/ Brown Rice and Veggie - It's all prepared, just throw it in some tupperware
Meal 4:
Boiled Eggs and Veggies -
Meal 5:
This is dinner time for me when I eat with my boyfriend so I usually prepare something healthy like fish or steak for dinner with a veggie and maybe a sweet potato.
Meal 6:
Cottage Cheese and 1 TBL of natural PB

I can pack all my meals in less than 10 mins. every night. So when I wake up in the morning it's all in the fridge and I just throw it in my lunch cooler and I'm off.

Oh damn, I guess people do make these massive cookings. I got nothing else to do on Sundays, so I might as well start cooking. Inspiring! :-)

I don't have much time so usually I have to prepare the night before.
Tuna in water seems like a dream here, in Japan it is all depends on what your supermarket stocks as to what you get. low fat products seem to be in low demand so for things like cottage cheese, tuna without oil etc almost non existent. fast foods have no healthy options like in the west these days ( besides Mos burger) so low in fat food on the run is a task to find too. Anyone in Japan have any different experiences?

I know what you are talking about.

My super though does sell water pack tuna, just be careful with it. I put myself in hospital with what the doc there said was possibily the beginnings of mercury poisoning. Then again, I ate several cans of it a day for several weeks....

I swear to god though, I was in such a bad way I thought I was about to cark it.

Jusco has water packed though, and they also sell a decent cottage cheeze there too.

I dunno mate, Jed was in hospital not that long ago and i reckon it maybe that expo water you guys are drinking up in seto!

seriously though, I have to get the lady on to the healthier options... I have sussed out the low fat milks for the shakes, doing the miso, salmon & rice brekkie's etc. Just not enough time to prepare the stuff. Also my super keeps changing from water tuna to oil tuna like my son changes his nappies. Sashimi is an easy option!

Sashimi and salmon....blah.....you can feed that to the cats thanks! lol Tuna is as close to sea food as I can handle these days.

Oh, my trip the the hospital was about 2.5 or 3 years ago, and thankfully I drink bottled water here....building pipes aren`t trustworthy!

I was until as a teenager, after an extremely successful fishing trip we were stuck eating fish for breakfast/lunch/dinner for about 2 weeks. Since then....even if I think it tastes nice....it still comes back. lol
