Tokyo Sports reports on their front page that Kazushi Sakuraba was urgently taken to the hospital after training (collapsing). The paper raises the question as to whether or not Sakuraba will have his last fight on October 9th for HERO’s at Yokohama Arena. If you can read Japanese, keep your eyes open to the thread about this at NHB News.

Update: NHB News has more details (via KamiproHand). The newspaper report said that Sakuraba was taken to the hospital in Yokohama city by his training partner Minoru Toyonaga. Sakuraba reportedly was vomiting after his collapse in training. FEG is reportedly going to hold a press conference soon regarding this situation.

Angle Japan had a summary of the newspaper report, which claims that Sakuraba underwent medical tests at the hospital and the results of those tests have yet to come back. There is serious doubt that Sakuraba will be able to fight Yoshihiro Akiyama on 10/9 at Yokohama Arena for HERO’s. The paper claims that Sakuraba was feeling better recently (after taking enormous damage in his August 5th fight) and was showing good energy.

I just hope he lives and isn't brain damaged from the poundings he's taken the last few years. Forget fighting again. He can be an icon and a symbol of the sport and of saftey if he just worries about his health and not some samurai heart. Think DSE and Takada didn't know about his condition before letting their big draw native superstar take a walk to their top competitor?

He should have been retired already. Fighting and samurai spirit is one thing, but putting your health and even your life at risk is another.

Any word on how Saku is doing, anyone? I hope he will be ok, even if he never fights again.

I checked sportsnavi just before I left for work this morning and there was no word or comment saying a thing about this story....or his condition.

I really hope it is nothing in his head. Brain bleeds, concussions, and other things cause vomitting and illness.

Hopefully he just had a bad riceball but a bruised brain wouldn't surprise me.

Saku 's news on sportsnavi , he has a blood clot or a blockage (bad blood flow) in an artery that leads to his brain.

Confirming he give up the fight.

So he's basically in line for an early stroke..great. And K-1 is hinting that he'll return for Dynamite & fight? Oh..genius idea!

%$#&! Saku is a frigging real life martyr for MMA; I hope he makes a full recovery and retires. Very few people have done as much as him for the sport.

Yeah a martyr for DSE morelike. He kept offering his life for the company and I guess they took it in a roundabout way.

Maybe he'll retire from K-1 and DSE will offer him a Silva IIII fight to come out of retirement....or maybe Mirko II.
