I went in sick and with an injured leg, came out 4-3, first match I lost to omoplata, second to a rear naked choke, third I won by a one handed RNC, fourth by a toe hold (popped the ankle), fifth by bulldog chok, sixth I lost to a guillotine after holding the guy up for about 2 minutes standing while trying to work out, and seventh I won by armbar.

I'm pretty happy with how I did, the guys who beat me were more skilled, didn't have anything to do with me being sick or injured.

Sounds like a good day out and some nice experience. Been competing long?

I did a Wrestling tournament in 2001 when I had 2 months experience, went 0-2, my first competition since then was in March 2005, Pankration, lost by armbar, didn't have any real MMA training for that, just rolling with friends, second one was October 2005, lost by decision, had about 6 months training by then, third one was Pankration and Sub wrestling, went 3-0 in sub and 2-0 in pankration, 3 triangles and 1 triangle/1 decision respectively. So I'm Folkstyle 0-2, Am Pankration 2-2, Sub Wrestling 7-3.

How was the tourney set up?

Round Robin, 140, 155, 170, 185, 205 and 205+ weight divisions, everybody fights everybody in their division. 185 got split up into two groups since there were 14 in that division and it would have taken ages, winners of both groups fought each other for gold.

Here's a highlight of the tournament, most of the matches are from my division, since the guy who made it was in that division.

Yeah, I would have much rather had that for the last tourney I was in.
Double elimination absolute.

I weighed in at 170, lost to a 250 pounder and then a 245er in the bronze match :(

Well, double elimination is better than single. Round robin is definitely preferable though, and it works really well with no points. You can allow draws and not worry about who advances to the next round.
