Dream Stage Entertainment, promoter of the PRIDE Fighting Championships, this evening held a press conference at the FOX Sports Grill in Irvine, Calif., officially announcing two bouts for its October 21 “Real Deal” event at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In a rematch from 2004, heavyweight ace Fedor Emelianenko faces UFC and PRIDE tournament champion Mark Coleman on the bill’s main event.
Coleman heads into October’s showdown looking to build on a two-fight win streak, including a shocking TKO victory over “Shogun” Mauricio Rua last February.
Emelianenko, widely considered the most dominant athlete in the sport, will compete on U.S. soil for the first time in his illustrious 24-fight career.
Also announced on the card, the aforementioned “Shogun” returns to action for the first time since suffering a devastating elbow injury at the hands of the 41-year-old Coleman at PRIDE 31 “Dreamers,” to face popular Hammer House fighter Kevin Randleman.
The bout also marks a return to action for the Columbus, Ohio native, who was forced off Strikeforce’s June bill due to post-surgical complications following a shoulder injury.
Another interesting note from the press conference was the presence of former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson, whom DSE offered no comment when asked if he will fight for the promotion.

Mike's been all over the place lately, he helped out (boxing-wise) for the Rahman-Maskaev weigh-in last week

Oh well....not the best match ups, but smart for the US.
I wonder who far Tyson will get when he has some contract with K-1?

Randleman vs Shogun should be a great fight. I expect a repeat in the Fedor/Coleman fight. Coleman might be able to get Fedor down, but after that ........

I read Randleman may never be fit to fight again......and his first fight back is Shogun???????

Randleman is a warrior, I respect him a lot, but I don't think Shogun will spare him hehe.
I like these matchups.

Coleman v Fedor II? Why?
....hmm OK now that I have thought about it, WHY? What reason can there be for such a pointless fight?
Shogun v Randleman makes sense cause they are both coming off injury and Shogun's arm is a question mark with some of us. Randleman is a fair gauge of where he is at.

He needs a warm up fight before fighting the winner of the owgp on NYE, you want him to face CroCop or someone on his first fight in 10 months?

Wow, didn't expected these match ups.
Actualy Randelman vs. Shogun could be pretty entertaining and never bet your house against the Hammer.

Coleman is a name everyone in the MMA world knows, including the US UFC fans. He is american too.

Actually I think in this case it's not only safe to bet your house against the Hammer, but your parents' house, all your worldy possessions and even your soul.

Yeah.....but Shogun's health may also be in question.
BTW....I realize the extent and seriousness of Randleman's illness and procedure. But could someone fill me in on the extent (prognosis) to which they think his illness might effect him in the long-term? Any recent updates on his condition and physical well-being at this point?

People were saying the same thing going into Hammer's fight with Shogun. But it would probably take another freak injury to his opponent for him to have a chance in this one.
Like (oYo) said earlier, Coleman is well-known among the american fanbase.....and is a good match-up for Fedor considering Fedor is coming off an injury and hasn't fought in a while.
I like Coleman and will hate to see him dominated, but he does not match up well against Fedor....not that anyone really does. But Coleman's game is taking his opponent down and g'nping his opponent to pulp. Don't see anyone doing that to Fedor.....EVER.

Not so fast....can't discount the chance of Fedor being hit by a meteor during the fight. Hate to lose my soul for something like that.
