It appears the much-anticipated mixed martial arts bout between rival champions Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva, scheduled for November, might be off.

"I don't even know if Silva's going to happen," said Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He cited problems in dealing with the Japan-based Pride Fighting Championships that is home to Silva.

White said UFC 65 will instead probably feature Liddell against Tito Ortiz in a rematch of UFC 47 in 2004.

The Liddell-Silva bout was considered a blockbuster matchup, finally bringing the rival UFC and Pride organizations together

Liddell (18-3-0) is the current UFC light-heavyweight champion at 205 lb.

UFC is in a hard situation, their posterfighter will fight Wandy, I think Dana has just realized the outcome of this fight :-)

Now that Pride is comming to US , Wandys win will give Pride a lot of Publicity and I dont know if that is what UFC wants.

Only 2 problems I see are:

1. Chuck has to beat Babalu and not sustain injuries

2. Silva has to make it out of the GP (win or lose) with no injuries

PRIDE seems very interested in this fight (and future fights) happening.

That's about how I see it, too.

LOL. Neither do I, thought it was interesting that's all.

And if it ends up being true. More power to them.

Probably. I quit reading it when Bret Hart's regular columns stopped appearing.
