With now only Gomi left, we know that there will be 12 bouts. The more the better :)

I only wonder who will Gomi fight at this point. Rumors have David Baron being his opponent. I personally think it should be Ishida in a non title fight. Then, looking at the outcome it should be easier to decide who should recive a title shot.

- Ishida beats Gomi then it's Ishida since he just beat Aurelio, too.

- Gomi beats Ishida then it's Aurelio because he already beat Gomi.

Simple no? :)

Now if Ishida wins his fight at Bushido 12, he may recive the title shot. It wouldn't be totally fair because Aurelio finished Gomi, i know that he lost to Ishida as well but it's a strange situation.

Gomi will no doubt fight Baron. That's the only possible combination left.

Maybe the reason they didn't announce Gomi's fight with these two is that they're waiting to see what happens with the mirko thing (gomi vs silva).

But I would rather have Gomi avenge his loss to Aurelio right now.

Great news.
Bushido is the top MMA promotion right now.

I disagree, that way Ishida would have to beat Gomi twice (much like Aurelio). I don't like those non-title fights. All this confusion was caused by a non-title fight, I can live without that.

If Gomi in some way loses to Baron, then the Lightweight division would be a HUGE mess. So I agree with Shinobu about not liking non-title fights, not that I care so much who is champ, but people talk

That Marcello dude is the BJJ trainer from Chute Boxe right? At least he looks like it.

Yeah I don't care either about who is champ, but rather about who is the No. 1 contender. If all is in Limbo matchmaking can only be disappointing.

I'm with you, let me explain. I don't like much non title fights either because they can create situations like this, and the reason i'd like to see Gomi-Ishida right now it's only because of this particular reason (to solve things). Imagine if Gomi loses to Baron :eek2: this is just another risk if you ask me because you can't give Baron a title shot before you give it to Aurelio or Ishida. Since they have to give somebody a non title fight first, i'd rather see Ishida against Gomi than Baron.

I though Chute Boxe's BJJ guy was Nino?

In any case Pride would never in a zillion years (at the moment) match up Gomi and Ishida simply because the crowd don't want to see it at all. Ishida has a huge future at Pride as he stepped up when they needed someone the most. He has a good look and he has tools to take on scary foreign opponents, just like Gomi. They'll use Ishida when they can't use Gomi now, and I hope he does very well.

gomi x kawajiri x Ishida

Bushido's holy triumvate

I'm cool with non-titles when they're handled right. Shooto usually followed up a non-title loss with an immediate shot at the belt, the only exception I could think of being the Cromado situation back in '00 where Barbosa guillotined Uno, but got kneebar'd by Mishima at the year-end show while Uno rematched Sato (ah, those were the golden years of 70kg MMA).

Yes it's 100% the BJJ trainer from Chute Boxe. link (http://www.prideofficial.com/free/fighters/details/1154845840.html)
I knew his name was Christiano Marcello and that's what this page says. He already a BJJ trainer before Schembri joined. I always wanted to see him fight.

Marcello took out Jadson Costa in Mecca with a triangle.

He's been with Chute Boxe for several years.

I'm excited about this fight and I'd like to see how he deals with Ishida's Ground and Pound.

I think Ishida's GnP insulates him from a lot of BJJ attacks for the simple fact that he does not let up, he just keeps hitting you and hitting you. One would have to possess Nogueira-esque composure to catch him in something, and even then he's real good about defending against guard attacks.
