I'm sure the big fightforums in Holland (Fighttalk, Mixfight) will take some (better) pics :) I'll only be there to enjoy the show.

Kaoklai vs Spong is a potential war. And you know what: I think Spong is gonna win it too, and yes, even on full thai rules as it is!

I am pretty excited for this event. Spong is going to dominate Koaklai and the most dominate fighter in the world, Germaine De Randami should take another early KO.

Some quick results, maybe a report later:

Germaine won her fight with complete dominance again, she dropped her opponent with a big knee on the head, from the clinch. Her opponent managed to fight 4 rounds with blood from her nose the whole fight, but just decided to fight no fifth.

Samranchai won on KO from Robert van Nimwegen, 4th round. Nice highkick that wobbled him, finished with a good punch. Robert beat the count, but he didn't know where he was, so the ref stopped the fight.

Hansuk (replacement of Maleipet) lost on KO from Hoessein Abdelhadi (replacement of Marco Pique), on a big massive knee in the 3rd round. He went down like a tree, very scary knockout.

Fikri Tyarti won on decision from Chaowrit. Should have been a draw, but none were very convincing. Fikri was the only one who wasn't completely outclassed in the clinch though.

And the most shocking of all: Spong won on KO from Kaoklai in the first round, 1 minute and 39 seconds. Kaoklai was too eager, and underestimated Spong. Both had some good exchanges very early, and Kaoklai just rushed into it careless, almost reckless. Guard too low, just going for it. Spong didn't lose his mind and kept being concentrated. Kaoklai tried to rush for a massive lowkick, with his hands down, Spong just stepped aside and finished it with a very hard right hook. Kaoklai had a lot of trouble in getting up and the Ref stopped the fight.

Spong is a monster. Kaoklai wants a rematch already by the way.

He's just 21 years old and he accomplished a feat that even Mike Tyson at the same age never accomplished. And that's beating a ringlegend at his prime. Rob Kaman, Ramon Dekker, could he be the next great Dutch kickboxer?

Well, to be fair to Kaoklai, he has done some pretty good things in the ring, but in my opinion he's not a ringlegend by any means...

I agree and to be honest I'd be really surprised if Spong somehow lost this one. It's still surreal that I got to see him lose to Goto ages ago. But yeah Spong has grown (literally) and is now a great fighter in his own right.

Oh and Jofeljoh!, how were the Hansuk and Samranchai fights going before the KO?

Samranchai is a very strong and smart fighter and had very little trouble with Van Nimwegen. The first two rounds were just regular Thai rounds, very slow, not much action and feeling eachother out. Samranchai kept Van Nimwegen at distance with constant teeps and Van Nimwegen couldn't get inside to make something happen. Some occasional lowkicks landing but nothing shocking.

In the third and fourth it was one sided action with Samranchai looking for the clinch and throwing and kneeing Van Nimwegen, and totally wearing him out. Some huge knees to the body totally took the game away of Van Nimwegen. With one of those knees the referee gave him an 8-count.

In the fourth round Samranchai just kept on clinching and throwing, and finished it with that highkick and punch combination (some say it was an elbow though, couldn't remember very well, was a tough angle to see).

Hansuk was a different story. Hansuk was there to put up a show for sure. It already began with the ram muay, with the variation that he mimed as if he was digging a hole for his opponent. When he stepped to Hoesseins corner he just made a 'spearing'-movement, as if to say 'you're gonna die'.

Anyway, match started in a higher pace then the Samranchai fight, and clearly Hansuk was aiming at a nice finish, with several spinning elbows that he threw. Hoessein had some teeps that were landing in Hansuks face, so he started taunting Hoessein ( 'that all you got?' ), who replied with his hands raising. So you could feel there was a show coming up. One thing did surprise me of Hoessein, and that was his style. Hoessein is from the Mousid stable, who are known to have a certain 'unorthodox' style. You know, lot of weird moves when you least expect it, spinning kicks, flying knees, etcetera. The only knee that he threw was the knee that was landing in the 3rd, causing the (scary) knockout. Maybe it was part of the gameplan, to make that his ultimate surprise weapon.

But Hansuk is a very good fighter, I'd never heard of him before it (shame), but I like him very much. Also in person he's a very friendly, funny and humble guy (we went out to dinner with the Thai fighters afterwards)>
