As the title says

Sportsnavi just uploaded this

http://sportsnavi.yahoo.co.jp/fight/pride/headlines/20060605-00000038-spnavi-spo.html

Not only has the contract been cancelled by FujiTV to broadcast all future PRIDE shows (Due to a legal breech on DSE's part it says), but they have also cancelled this Bushido from being shown on the 10th as it was advertised, and have cancelled the next Hustle on the 18th.

It says DSE is currently investigating things and so has not yet commented.

It must be dramatic to not broadcast and event FujiTV have already invested money in....

This obviously means bad things for the NYE Man Festival......

FujiTV have taken down their PRIDE page, and all trace of PRIDE has been cleaned from their web site.....

I was wondering - how easy do you think it will it be for Pride to find another tv station to be broadcast on? Surely there must be another taker for at least the NYE man festival. Wasn't Inoki bombaye on ABC (ch 6) in 2003? Maybe they'll show some interest once/if the yakuza scandal dies down.

Yes, I'm hoping PRIDE can find another station to work with, soon.

This is really really bad...

I hope Pride pull through, they have really come in leaps and bounds in the last 5 years.

Fuji stated that they broke a rule. I dunno what that means...

I think they will bounce back without too much trouble. Who is it that runs HEROS and Max? Maybe they will be interested.

I dont like the idea of K-1 buying out Pride though, if they are competitive it makes them push harder to put on better shows.

I dont know much about TV in Japan, are there any other stations who are bigger or might pick them up?

if it is a simple contractural issue, then yes some other station would snap them up. It seems as though Sakakibara plans to make an announcement re this tomorrow.

The buzz in Japan right now (true or not no one seems to know) is that Fuji cut all ties with PRIDE before arrests are made. The fact Fuji have no disclosed what sort of breach was made to cancel the contract litterally over-night is a bit worrying though.

We need more on this. Is this the end of Pride?

Lets wait and see but i think that they will do the deal again and sign the paper!Cause if they dont its going to be hard for the future financing of the Pride organization !

this dont sound good for everyone. If Pride goes down, UFC pay will be all that is left for most fighters.

By completevaletudoaccess.com :

Dream Stage Entertainment have scheduled a press conference in which they will respond to the recent termination of their television deal with Fuji Television, and announce the fight card for the second round of the PRIDE Openweight Grand Prix on July 1st.

Dream Stage Entertainment's multi-purpose press conference will take place at Sunflower Hall on the second floor of the Tokyo Prince Hotel on June 8th, and will officially begin at 1:00 PM Tokyo time. The press conference, unlike many, will be open to fans, with no cost for admission. Fans will be admitted from 11:30 to 12:45, fifteen minutes before the press conference begins.

The press conference will be attended by Dream Stage Entertainment President Noboyuki Sakakibara, PRIDE General Director Nobuhiko Takada, and PRIDE Openweight Grand Prix participants Hidehiko Yoshida and Kazuyuki Fujita. Sakakibara will speak on the situation regarding Dream Stage Entertainment's lapsed television contract with the Fuji Television Network. Also, he will announce the full card for PRIDE's July 1st show at Saitama Super Arena, including the four Openweight Grand Prix 2006 Quarterfinal bouts.

There has been much speculation on the July 1st card line up to this point. Some of the hotly rumored bouts for the Openweight Grand Prix include Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic against Hidehiko Yoshida, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira to face Fabricio Werdum, Mark Hunt versus Josh Barnett, and a match up between Wanderlei Silva and Kazuyuki Fujita, which was confirmed by Chute Boxe member Antonio "Nino" Schembri last month. Other non-tournament bout rumors have included Edson Drago versus Roman Zentov, Pawel Nastula taking on Kazuhiro Nakamura, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira against Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos, and Sergey Kharitonov returning from injury to face Mark Coleman. Tomorrow's press conference will clarify this rumored card line up, as well as shed more light on DSE's current situation with Fuji TV.

! ( tnx to tuco )

Oh no....now it is serious.

HG (Hard Gay) has now left Hustle due to his production company (Yoshimoto) shitting themselves over the fact FujiTV have evidentally said they will have no one associated with PRIDE in any way, appear on any of their shows.

HG.....damn. LOL

LOL....I believe JUNLE is the webmaster/admin for the homepage he linked too.

I look at it the same as with any article is all....he did the work translating it, so he deserves to get the traffic of those that want to read it.

Make sense? No harm done.
