i would love for royce to pull guard and slap on a triangle for that exact reason. i just dont see it going down there. hughes is too strong and too good a wrestler.

They might not win, but those are my picks.

I don't pick fighters I don't know at all either.

A lot of the fights can go either way and I was torn on ever fight except Horn's.

I think his wrestling (and ego) is going to lead him down there.

But Renzo Gracie couldn't submit Frank Trigg in Abu Dhabi, and that was in his prime.

It is going to be difficult.

just imagine if hughes submitted royce. holy shit.there would be like, only a few obscure human beings that would call that one.

^ I guess around 3%,,.....the same number that think Royce will KO Hughes.

I actually think Hughes could get the KO or the submission.
There's no telling in MMA.

Jeremy Horn arguably beat Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Ricardo Arona, and Randy Couture (if you watch all those fights without bias.) and it would be hard to call that.

Could Hughes tap Royce?
Royce has been tapped in training before and came close to getting finished by Sakuraba with a kneebar.

Anything is possible.

i think royce ko hughes would be around 1%. hughes at least has a number of submission victories. while royce has KO'd.....nobody.

Picking Royce should borderline a ban at the very least.

But Sak is on a whole other level with submissions than Hughes.

Jeremy Horn Vs. Chael Sonnen: Always a fan of Mister Workhorse..but..Gotta go with Chael, who has more at stake here in terms of building a solid UFC career. Sonnen by JD.

Gabriel Gonzaga Vs. Fabiano Scherner: Napao sub wins..Rd 2ish.

Alessio Sakara Vs. Dean Lister: Sakara by nasty bloody bashing 1st Rd KO. Welcome to UFC Dean-o.

Spencer Fisher Vs. Matt Wiman: Fisher King by JD I guess. Don't know Witman too well.

Melvin Guillard Vs. Rick Davis: Davis by Unknown reasons and Melvin dislike. Davis by Shocker! The actual move that is.

Diego Sanchez Vs. John Alessio: Nightmare Sub Rd 3.

Mike Swick Vs. Joe Riggs: Can;t wait for this one. Someone will get hit a lot..and so probably will the other guy. Swick needs to win early, Diesel can take it late. Ill go Quick Swick in end of 1 by TKO.

Brandon Vera Vs. Assuerio Silva: Vera by KO Rd 3. He needs another good win to get title contender status. Plus his cocky attitude is entertaining in a rather sluggish division.

Matt Hughes Vs. Royce Gracie: Hughes by decaptiation in Rd 2.

But Sak is on a whole other level with submissions than Hughes.

What makes you say that?
What has Sakuraba done in submission competition?

I mean, if you look at the competition they are VERY similar, the only difference being Hughes has been caught a handful of times (but we know Sakuraba got caught by Nino in training too, so it is not like he is invincible.)

Hughes almost armbarred Newton, same as Sakuraba.
Hughes tapped GSP, isn't that a little more difficult than tapping a (smaller) Anthony Macias?

Look at Hughes in Abu Dhabi. He almost got Tito Ortiz!

As a legend, Sakuraba is greater, but in fighting ability I consider them at least equal in terms of skill.

Picking Royce should borderline a ban at the very least.

I only pick him because he is a friend.
I have both fighters' autographs and I only pick Royce so if he wins I can say "Hah, I called it!"

saku knee-barred newton, alot more than hughes did. and choked out rampage. but of course you only make mention of macias.

and just because saku never entered sub competitions doesnt take away from his skill.
