View Full Version : Chance of K-1 getting Rickson vs. Sak?

There's a lot of talk, "whispers and rumors", in the media ... more than normal at least, ..... swirling about Rickson considering stepping back into the ring. I've just read three or four Rickson Gracie threads in a few other forums that have drawn a lot of attention (more than normally warranted), mainly about how his Brazilian colleagues still consider him still "the best there is"...... like they're promoting the guy.

So now that K-1 has got Sak, can any one here (o Y o) maybe, substatiate claims that they are actively trying to renegotiate with Gracie inc. to put this Rickson vs. Sak thing to bed once and for all? I mean if they're ever gonna do it, now would make sense. Considering the money they are paying fighters these days....I would imagine short of giving the Gracies Hokkaido, Rickson's price might not look to steep anymore. Unless Rickson purposely asks for some insane amount...purposely sabotaging having to fight and put his legend on the line....but I couldn't imagine him ever doing this.

Maybe I'm reading too much into things. Maybe like some may have, after hearing the hype a million times over these past 6-years, wanted to believe it so bad, allowed myself to ponder "maybe this once, there is something to it this time?"

......swigs down another Keystone Light (don't ask me why?)....up to tall can seven... need nine to finish my pyramid....

What were we talking about? Oh yeah....can't wait for NYE....Sakuraba vs

......Akebono's gonna rock!

:suicide: uughh...errr....Rickson by titti-twister!!!

I have not asked anyone official whether or not the Rickson stuff is true.....a) I just assumed K-1 are indeed trying for him (and I formly believe if ANYONE can get Rickson into the ring, they are the only ones) and b) even if I got an answer it would no doubt come along with a "but you cannot say anything" which would mean I cannot really join the discussions anymore. lol

well all i know is, back in 2004 K-1 DID have Rickson in the ring and they DID say he would fight. i would be happy to go find that article. it was on the official K-1 site. so if he does come back for a fight it WILL be here.

Royler Gracie's student has confirmed that Rickson will fight for 3 million dollars.

Filho trained with Rickson and he said that "no one ever did to me what Rickson Gracie has done during training these last days.”

“Rickson is going to kill Sakuraba” when he talks about a possible bout between these two MMA legends on New Year’s Eve in K-1. - Wallid Ismael

He has also trained in Brazil since December it seems.

*laughs immaturely*

I really couldn't care much for this matchup. However great both fighters may have been, now they are both too far past their prime and the fight could not possibly live up to expectations. I'd much rather see a full card of quality fighters then two past their prime fighters.
