POSTAL CONNECTIONS: MORE INFO ON SAKURABA LEAVING DSE/PRIDE
By Tape Lord

Hello my friends, sources in the DSE/PRIDE organization, the K-1 organization, and the Japanese media are all telling me some of the reasons for the abrupt departure of Kazushi Sakuraba from DSE/PRIDE to K-1.

From what I've been told, Sakuraba left DSE/PRIDE because he had a falling out with Nobuhiko Takada. The reasons for the fall-out are the following:

1.) Sakuraba has felt for quite some time that he should have been getting paid similar amount of money to what Hidehiko Yoshida and Naoya Ogawa were making for their fights in PRIDE. According to insiders, both Yoshida and Ogawa make high 6-digit to 7-digit figures for most of their fights, especially on the New Year's card, where it was rumored they each made almost USD$2 million each. Sakuraba was supposedly making lower to mid 6-digit figures for most of his fights.

2.) Sakuraba basically had had enough of Takada matching him up against the top heavyweights in the world and getting him almost crippled in some instances, while getting underpaid and ruining what legacy he had left.

3.) Sakuraba supposedly wanted very much to enter last year's PRIDE 183-pound GP, but Takada didn't put him in it.

The source alone destroys whatever credibility this has.......and all are things that are obvious on the surface.

I seem to recall many an interview where Saku was saying he wanted to fight at LHW. I guess there is no way to tell if that is true or if that was what he was told to say.

Yeah, it seems too perfect to be true. There's no way he was ever put into the ring against his will. Fightsport is full of shit.

The wonder is why Saku didn't leave earlier, lol. Takada's been a leach, sucking off Saku, who replaced the mma-unfit Takada. Apparently, Saku is a super loyal guy... felt gratitude towards Takada... for I guess getting his career started in pro-wrestling and mma? Whatever. I thought Saku was on top of the money aspect of his self-sacrificial career.

One pt I'd add is, when I asked Saku when he'd re-match Arona, he really looked fed up of fighting heavier than him. His face was like "fuck that, I hate it, I'm not doing it again..."

Japanese fighters do get often than the average? get pressured into a fight. They need a better management... Their managers are like the fricking promoter... who sometimes prioritize the show, more than the fighter.

And what's up with the whole back talk about J-Rock having immense power over Pride? Did Yoshida+J-rock end up pushing Saku to the side? How much power does Takada/Takada Dojo have in Pride anyways? Why?

Shady business :)

point:

4) K-1 offered him more money.

5) K-1 told him he can still use his intro song.

6) K-1 told him he can still use his ICS (KS) logo.

Any other glarringly fucking obvious points we can name? ;)
