This is from the ticket sales agent for PRIDE.
Wonder if it is just random......and why Fedor is not yet on it as this is a new one just released in the last day or two.

Werdum is dead meat if he's fighting Fedor. I mean that. He's nowhere near as good as Nogueira.

^ I agree completely. I see it looking something like the Herring fight to be perfectly honest.

If these matchups are correct I predict:
Yosh vs Fujita -
Hard fight for both, Yosh must take it to the ground and try to submitt fujita in the later rounds. I simply don't think Yosh can hurt Fujita standing.
Yosh by Dec.
Mirko vs Nog -
I see it going like their first fight with the exception that Nog won't be able to even get the takedown.
Mirko by TKO/Dec
Barnett vs Hunt -
This is were the tourny ends for Hunt! his only chance is to come out slugging and hope for a first round KO.
Barnett by Sub, round 2.
Werdum vs Fedor(?) -
Werdum will take it to the ground even if it means just laying back with Fedor in his guard. I guess it's possible for Werdum to get a sub from the bottom but I'm not counting on it.
Fedor by Dec.

Omg I see the upset in Werdum submitting Fedor. Am I crazy?
I honestly think Werdum could make it.

I hope these aren't the matchups. With any luck they are just random pics. Also, there's a good chance Fedor won't be in the second round. I would expect Roman to fill the gap.
Both Werdum and CC have beaten Roman. If they matched him up against Hunt we'd see some serious fireworks!

If we matched the fighters top vs bottom we'd have some really good matchups.
CC vs Yoshida
Nog vs Fujita
Barnett vs Werdum
Hunt vs TBA

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll be Roman Zentsov, too. It makes the most sense.
BTW, Cro Cop and Zentsov haven't met. You're probably thinking of Ibragim Magomedov. I confused the two of them first, too.

For me the only way is:
Yosh vs Werdum
Fujita vs Hunt
CC vs Nog
Barnett vs Fedor
sorry, I just want these matchups soo bad!

Yep, I agree. These are the matchups I voted for at the Pride website. (Not that I know if that's actually going to have any effect.)

I don't think DSE has ever seen any value whatsoever in throwing Yoshida at someone who could submit him. Yoshida's whole aura would suffer hugely. If they're really desparate to have him in the second round they'll put him against Hunt in a rematch and he'll do the exact same thing as he did the first time.

But I think Yoshida is to good to be submitted by Werdum, I think it would be a technical fight with Yoshida winning a decision.
This fight is just a side effect of the three other MUST HAVE fights in my mind anyway.

I', mot saying Yoshida would lose; I think he has one of the most solid submission sets in all of mma, but DSE never really puts him in fights where he'll actually have a struggle on the ground. They like the whole Mr. Judo takes on aggressive striker... and wins! angle.

Likewise! :)
The way I see it:
Yosh vs Werdum = judo vs BJJ
Fujita vs Hunt = iron skull vs iron skull
CC vs Nog = revenge match
Barnett vs Fedor = revenge match 2 (Fedor avenging his brother)

Yeah! Three of those fights (maybe all four) could be main events! (for fans of every nationality)

Those have to be among the worst match-ups someone could come up with from that pool. Nog/Mirko being the only watchable fight...

No. I like to annoy people with one liners, and then retreat to the serenity of my appartment.
Naturally I wish the final four would possibly be the best 4 fighters, thus the seeding should be done on the basis of fighter rank. And right now the top 4 in Pride HW-division is Barnett, Mirko, Nog and Fedor.
If I look at those match-ups, the only one I(emphasize on I) get excited about is Nog/Mirko. Barnett-Hunt looks, on paper, totally one-sided, if Barnett does what he is supposed to. If he stands with Hunt, then maybe it will be a fight. If Werdum faced Fedor, it would almost be like Barnett-Hunt, except I would have to give the edge on the ground to Fedor. And Yoshida-Fujita...well, after his performance against Thompson, I have set my expectations about Fujitas success on a more realistic level. The fight is likely to be quite a lack-luster.
And again there would be a guy in the final four who did not necessarely face the competition he should have to prove himself.

But I agree that since there isnt a ranking system in place, all match-ups are "as justified" as the next one.

I think the order of the pics are based on stardom, not matchup... The two Japanese stars on the top, Nog and Crocop second, then the fairly new Josh and Hunt third, and Werdum last. Makes sense. And no Fedor, cause Fedor's undecided...

This thing is slowly turning into an actual OW gp ;-))
To bad Silva screwed Colman from participating in GP (old man deserved another shot), but this is indeed a great news.

Silva is in GP and i think now CROCOP has a greater chance for a victory with Fedor going out from it .
This will be very tough they are all at the same level CC, Nog ,Hunt ,Silva, Werdum and Japan Guys !

But i also think that Mark deserves another chance in GP cause he beat the MW GP champion and is the first Pride GP champ , so i think that pride should invite him for the 2nd round!
This is at least respect for him and his career in MMA!
