Filho is a bad baad baad man...

He's also a boring, booooooring man.

In fact the idea they might match him with takimoto just fills me with an unamed dread.

And this is an old subject but I hate the way they put champions into the GPs.

According to this post (and this guy knows his stuff) http://www.cagewarriors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21433
Gregory Bouchelaghem from France looks likely to be in the WW GP as well.

Here's his record: http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterID=8804

Bouchelaghem is a damn good fighter, very tall for his weightclass with strong mat skills. He's not going to win a the tournament but he's very welcome fresh blood and I've yet to see him in a dull fight.

Hector Lombard:

is also rumored to be fighting. He is a Cuban, currently living in Aus, Olympic Judoka and very powerful striker. Look for him to make waves...

Goddamit, I'm tired of hearing about this Lombard guy and not being able to see this destruction of Takase I'm hearing so much about

Also, isn't very DSE-like that we're 3 weeks from the GP and no fights are confirmed? I wonder how PRIDE fighters feel about that shit? What if you gotta prep for Filho?

Just because fights aren't announced publicly doesn't mean participants (or at least some of them) aren't aware of their opponents.

I just got a call from Apy Echteld who is the manager of Team Red Devil.
Het told me that Gegard Mousasi & Amar Suleov will fight in the Bushido GP
Probably Gegard will fight Makoto Takimoto

Who's this Villasenor guy? Don't think I've heard of him. Apparently he's 21-3-0, with 15 wins in a row now. Impressive.

I've seen him fight in person. Impreesive record...not quite as impressed seeing him fight.

good stuff guys...thanks for all the info

Why?

Sorry...was not bashing the guy. He is extremely well-rounded and clearly knows what he's doing out in the ring. But nothing about his game really stands out to me. Just from the the couple times I have seen him fight once live, the other ppv-stream, raised some doubts regarding how well he would be able execute his game and style against the type of fighters who would face among the MW-divsion in the UFC and WW's in Pride.

You're pretty much spot on Faster. His record is nice, but not sure if the competition he's defeated in KOTC makes him a threat in this tourney and the fights I have seen have not been too exciting. He hits hard, has good takedowns, but this will be a true test. Can he KO Chonan? Sure. Can he be subbed by Chonan? Sure. It wouldn't be a shock. Is he a threat to win the tourney b/c of his current win streak? I'm not putting any $ on him.

Thats more or less how I'd categorise him.

The fight with Chonan could be a cracker and I think Villasenor has earned a shot at this tournament but I'd be absolutely stunned if he were to win it.

There MUST be a Suloev vs Baroni 2... There have not been many people that have beaten Baroni on the feet and Amar was one of them. Though, these two fighters are probably my favourite in the tournament. I'd be happy for these two to meet in the second round, after Baroni KOs Minowa and Amar KOs Kang.

Chonan will rise. He's put in serious hours at Team Quest and Dan Henderson himself was incredibly impressed with his progress.
