can someone be so kind and school me on K-1 haha.

Huge fan of MMA and i try to follow as many organizations as possible...i've never really got into K-1 though. They've got incredible fighters but i never see their events...mainly because they don't air on PPV.

so anyways, i'm just trying to learn the basics because i'd like to start following it more closely. i purchased a 'best of 1993-2000' dvd and it's awesome. i haven't even watched the entire thing yet.

- what's the basic rules? how many rounds per fight? how many rounds for championship fights? how many belts they hold? how does one win a match?

- who are the wanderlei silvas and fedors of K-1? the legends? the current stars?

- how is K-1 doing right now? way better back then or just as good then as it is now?

- there seems to be quite a few subdivisions within K-1...how many exactly and what are the differences? K-1 MAX? K-1 Heroes?

any information would help...thanks!

That is a HUGE post to reply to.....lol

As CKO said...where to start??

As for the divisons they currently have 3. K-1 (over 70kg fights), MAX (up to 70kg) and HERO's (MMA rules).

I guess those that ended in the best eight for the last year or two are those considered th best, and a large number of those are the vets (for MAX and K-1). HERO's have only had one GP so far....their promotional stars right now are Akiyama, KID, Genki, Uno and Tokoro I guess.

The main difference you will notice between K-1 events and....well, PRIDE (easiest comparison for me personally to make) is that a LOT of the guys in PRIDE hate each other.....in K-1 pretty much all of the fighters get along, eat and drink together etc etc. They are a lot friendlier together.
