View Full Version : Some Golden Glory troubles regarding the K-1 WGP Europe...

Some rumours from dutch forums,

word is Sem Schilt and Golden Glory just cancelled the fight against Lloyd van Dams. Also it is said that Rutz is pretty pissed about the reason he cancelled, and that he threatens to cancel ALL Golden Glory fighters if Sem Schilt doesn't fight.

So that means no:

Naoufal Benazzouz
Sem Schilt
Gokhan Saki
Rodney Faverus
Ramon Dekkers vs Joerie Mes

At first this looked like a false rumour, but some 'insiders' confirmed there's some truth in it. So GG has some thinking time what to do...

I would be pretty pissed if they would cancel the Dekkers fight. Would be my last chance to see him in live action. The rest would be sad too, but this was a main reason to buy tickets.... Hopefully they can get an agreement after all, the biggest loser would be the crowd in this dispute.

You've beaten my by a minute :p. Can your mod powers remove mine?

On topic: someone should tell Rutz that acting like Dana White is not cool and never ever let the people who bought tickets be the victim of whatever reason that Semmy came up with....

LOL at the telekinesis.

Its hard to see why Rutz would risk pretty much ruining his card by taking out so many fighters just to prove a point to Golden Glory, it would be his loss just as much.

Is there a reason Semmy will not fight?

Whatever Schilt`s reason may be it`s stupid to remove an entire team from a fight card because of one man.

And if he really doesn`t feel like he can fight it`s illegal to force him to.

I don`t think the public will like Simon`s way of taking care of buisness.

But who knows, maybe they can get Botha to replace Semmy LOL

Not that it really matters, but telekinesis is the ability to move objects with your mind. What occurred between the people talking on this thread is telepathy ;)

If the reason Semmy dropped out is because of the upcoming Musashi fight, then that's bullshit on Semmy's part because he should have decided long before not to fight........Not so close to the event date.

By the way, this bullshit makes me wonder some things. Some questions:

- What's K-1 role in this?

You have the fighter Sem Schilt and its management team/Bas Boon/Golden Glory, on one side, and Simon Rutz the promotor on the other one. But what does K-1 have to say on this one? I assume they also have a contract with Sem and can decide on a certain degree where and when he fights.

Besides that K-1 would want to stay as much with the last known card, for all kind of reasons (marketing, their reputation, etcetera). What will they do avoiding a fiasco like this? For gods sake, it's an official Grand Prix...

So how will the Japanese act in this play?? oyo any ideas?

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This was going to be Gokans chance to get into the big time. I had it played out perfect in my head. He was going to win with low kicks in his first and replace a fighter in the second round. Then perform well, but lose to Iggy in the final. Then get invited to the second Vegas show and win the tourny. Then get Choi in the eliminations, beat him, and go on to the WGP. I had it all maped out and this news ruins me.

LOL! Can you get me a crystal ball like that? Had it all thought out huh.

But if it's true that Schilt will fight, then the rest will fight too right?

Is Schilt hurt from the Musashi fight?

Not to upset Lord Gaul, I too think Saki is indeed a very exciting fighter that follows Dekkers' philosophy of giving it all, BUT I have seen his fight agaisnt Vitaly Akhramenko and to be sincere, he won it but I noticed gaps in his style - Akhramenko was obviously superior in the technical department (but he ususally is, he's extremely correct in technical terms, as was Ignashov (getting rusty nowadays I think, but he's still brilliant)), and lost mostly due to his laid back rythim, very close to Ignashov's, that only really moves when he has to. Saki explored that to effect and punished his supporting leg, and like Sefo used to do, Vitaly only bothered to block and avoid the kiks when it was too late and the damage was already done. Being below Vitaly in general skills (even though he clearly has much more heart and perseverance) isn't really a good sign if you want to go K1 level, because Vitaly himself is sometimes a brilliant fighter and has a great technical level, but like Gur, Ustinov or Brajrami, is sadly spending his years just outside K1' evil gates, not being able to get in.

Don't know if I made any sense... :)

My personal impression is that K-1 are going to be pissed. It is obvious they are trying to run semmy into the ground with all these tough fights, and they'll want him fighting as much as possible up until the Elims. Bas and FEG really do not get along at all though....and even if they think it is BS, if Bas says semmy is injured and cannot fight, there is little they can do.

Good point.

Well, as it seems Sem will fight and the card will remain as it was, so that's a good sign. Also, in the next fightclub on Eurosport this monday, Simon Rutz will be guest and explain this soap so we will know more.

I feel bad for Sem. He is the K-1 Grand Prix champ. He holds the CKO #1 rank. He has fought Hoost, Aerts and Mori since November last year. Is next fight will be only 2 weeks after the Mori fight and then he'll fight again in Seoul.

This is very hard on the body. I'm sure everyone remembers the breakneck schedule Hoost had in 2002. He fought Schilt 9 days after fighting Nortje in Vegas. The Schilt fight was outside in Tokyo... in August. You are in your lat 30s, you've been flown around the world twice in less than two weeks and you are fighting another giant in 35 celcius temperures for 5 rounds.

A few weeks later, Hoost fought Sapp while suffering from his skin disease and getting cut. Sapp fans were saying things like "See. Bigger is better."

You and I have noticed the same things my friend. I love Vitily Akhramenko. He is one of my favorite fighters and you essesment of him mathces mine. I think that your entire post is accurate so do not worry about upseting me because you just made my day.

I think that Saki is tough and he is an exciting fighter. He is a low kicker, which I love and I think that if he got into the field he could make a splash. To me it is about impressin the right people and this tourny would be the stage to do that, especially if he got in.

AKA, I have him winning that fight, but it should be a good one and we will see on fight night who is the better man. Berbachi is tough, but I think that Saki is better. But all I really have on Berbachi is word of mouth, so he may be a better fighter then what I heard.

Rutz just admitted to have threatened to remove the Golden Glory Team if Sem wouldn't fight and that this more or less was the reason Schilt decided to fight after all. Rutz also assured that every fight on the card will happen as planned.

Respect to Rutz for not beating around the bush and making the rumours official.

If Dekkers beats Jori I think this puts him in the mix. He beat bang and Mes is no chump. He would be a good match up for anyone so if Dekkers can win get him a string of fights and get your money and get out of the game Dek
