I just noticed the thread in here on The Da Vinci Code, and seeing as there seems to be so many different nationalities around here I thought I'd pose the question.

What are your beliefs/religion if any? I guess if you don't have any, then why not too.

I rool with Jesus baby, I am Christian. Nothing more, just a follower of Jesus. I have been walking with the Lord for about 12 years now(26yrs old). I love to tell people of the gospel and Jesus Christ died on the cross. I work with ex-substance abusers and drug attics. I help them on there path out of a dark life and I tell them of the joys I have in Christ. I also spread the same message to those I meet in the fight world.

I guess that some see it as a fault here in America that I am not more of a universalist, but I rank Jesus very high in my life so I won't belittle my opinions of him for no one. I never try to force my religion on anyone because I believe that is impossible. I just tell them of the joys I have in Christ and the life he lead me out of. I answer any questions they have about Jesus and Christianity and I pray that God changes the hearts because he is the only one that truly can.

I have a heart for people and I do whatever I can to help them. I credit this mentality to my Lord Jesus.

What a bag of worms this could open. Let me just butt in here just to ask people to keep this one friendly. I have seen topics like this and politics seriously cause major trouble on boards before, so be nice and try to respect each others right to make their own choices in life.

I guess I carry my own form of Syncretism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syncretism).

In my youth I was quite involved with the local catholic church but after my early teens I stopped doing that and started to stand on my own feet in therms of believe. I thought of myself as a convertion to atheïsm until my teacher in a subject that could literally be translated into view on life, and he was quite confident in stating that all of us are in fact Syncretists because our nation is based upon Christian social morals and values (while I'm really starting to dislike those two words) and that dropping the idea of a lord, Jesus, attending church and praying. I pretty much still carry the morals and values it implies.

Most Finns (83,1%) are members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland, that doesn`t mean that you`re believer or not, it is just something you join when you`re born. I personally have my own beliefs which differs a lot from evagelical lutheran churches view, but still I am a member of that church. In my every day life church does not play a role of any sort.

I guess I believe there's good people and bad people, every body having a soul, life after death and reincarnation, but I'm not religious or follower of a particular system.

There's a nothing a god can give to me that i can't give to myself
I put my beliefs in the things I believe and a god can take care of himself
there's not enough love in the world for me to think about wasting my time
It's not that I don't believe at all but I don't need a heavenly sign
I can achieve the things I need without getting down on my knees
I can respect you're religion but i don't want to pay your fees
I don't want to hear you talk about the things you think that i need
so don't help me back on my feet again until you can hear me pleed
Just look in the holy book of crooks and tell me what you can find
all the rules and the regulations made to manipulate your mind
don't pretend that you're blind just open your mind and study historical times
the bigger thew loss the bigger the cost the bigger the cross and its crimes

I don't believe in a god that I need to worship
I don't believe that I need to get down on my knees
I don't believe that a voice from above can help me
I only believe in what I can see and the things that I can achieve

Whatever belief you belong to there's still always a reason to doubt
and there's always another opinion as to what life is all about
there's always a bigger dimension and a different point of view
so I don't want to try to change you that decision is up to you
Whatever your final choice is and however you choose to live
you better be happy for what you can get and happy with what you can give
there's only one thing to remember there is only one thing you can do
and that is to do unto others as you'd have others do unto you

I just like that song.

That song is pretty much summing up my thoughts about religion: I'm not a believer, but I respect the people who do.

Only things I hate are people trying to convert others, and people who hurt others with faith - extremists so to speak. I used to believe that religions lead to war, but it are merely the people who use religion in the bad way.

If you live your own life and follow your religion for yourself, that I only can respect. But don't bother other people with it.

I'm unbelieveable:) No, seriously I don' t believe in God nor am I a member of any religious group or institution.

Reason: I'm not raised with religion and I like to see facts. I don't believe in something that hasn't been proven.

I do respect people who believe in God, but they should also respect someone who doesn't believe in God.

I dislike people who kill or commit violence in the name of God, unfortunately a lot of people are doing this every day.

I guess I am non-denominational (First Church of God) Christian. At least that is what my family is mostly made up of, (had long relationship with Italian Catholic, so I kinda was semi-that for a while too I suppose) though I don't remember ever really having to go. I do when I visit the grandparents (Easter, Xmas) as they are really into it. It's nice, you know makes you feel good about something. The atmosphere, the songs, the friendliness and giving and all. I really don't put too much thought into it all. I think, no matter what, it fulfills something positive in the lives of the people that go there and believe. As for me though..I get too wrapped up with things in this here world and spend countless hours trying to figure these earthly issues out..so...maybe one day I will look more into it..but for now, I have no problem with people's beliefs and think that they can be positive influences in people's lives. IS there something spiritual going on here? Seems like it a lot of the time..so to each his own. Now over-the-top fanatics..um..well..I don't associate with any, so I will leave it at that.

I like the morals of religion personally, but never felt I need to go to any particular church to be recharged with them regularly.

davidk you mind me asking what it was tha made you change your ways?
