Ok, after feeling let down by my inability to go the distance in the tourney on Saturday, I want your help!
Here's some things everyone should know about me though:
I work a full-time job.
I have bad arthritis in my hands and my knees.
So far the best I can think of is swimming indoors and sticking to the Bas Rutten MMA Workout daily... but yeah, it is just so hard when you have arthritis to run or anything.
Still, any suggestions will help!

Less time on the internet and more time in the gym!
Not running but how about the X training machines.
I use the Reebok BodyTrek as a substitute for running at the mo coz I have an Achillies pain.. You burn similar calories with less impact on your knees.

Swimming indoors is a good routine, if somewhat boring. I do it twice a week and it definetly helped me out. Plus you also train the upper body and burn lots of calories.

Personally I stopped all the running/elliptical/etc... the muay thai training gives me the conditionning, we have some training session for example with mostly bag work, steps, light weights, squats, etc...I think that's what gives me the right conditionning for fighting. My question is : does someone think that running half an hour gives you something that regular fighting training routine doesn't ?

Only less risk of injury, but you are right.
Running creates rhythmic breathing.
You could run a marathon, but still gas in a fight if you rely on the rhythm for your oxygen.
You are much better off doing mit work with 4 ounce gloves and sprawling every 10 seconds over and over than running 100 miles if you are training for a fight.

If you have bad knees run off road, like on the beach (if you're close to one) or on grass or something similar.
But yeah, you're right, mit training or something like that would be better than running anyway.

Still extra cardio is going to bring you up to speed quicker than just doing your grappling training.
Once you reach a desired fitness level, you could back it off abit.

What about interval training on the bike (spinning) or running. So you're not cycling the Tour de France nor running the Marathon.

Yr probably right.
The setup I have now is three grapplers:
One is 174 pounds, one is 215 pounds, and the other is 170 pounds...
they iron man with me...we go as hard as we can for 3 minutes, i get one minute rest, and then the next one comes in fresh, and we go as hard as we can again...and we do it till I can't do it anymore.

I am in the making of a come back from injury in a month or 2. I am training my butt off for 1-1.5 hrs a day using bike, body trek and running machine, + weights after that.
As well as eating properly.
I am doing this because each time I have some time off during injury, I go back and gas so quick. The cardio will give you that bit more endurance that you probably need right now.

I think one of the other problems is I compete at Absolute as opposed to 155, which I should be cutting to.
I would go to my own weight, but I like the challenge of facing the bigger fighters.

Run short distances. Start with 5 50 or 100 yard dashes. Move up to 10 and at least 15 close to fight time. I do the same thing do to the whole in my leg.
