Anyone know if that's Ricardo Almeidas' brother fighting? I know he does have a brother called Flavio, but I think I read that he'd stopped doing jiu-jitsu a while ago.

I don't get where Vitor is heading... At first glance, he seems to be stuck at a halfass level in all fronts of fighting sports... bjj, mma, and boxing...

OK damn you, but I'm not writing anything new so you'll have to make do with response from this and other forums. I've done enough writing today (Cage Warriors: Strike Force 5 report coming soon) and can't be arsed with much more, but I will hit the search functions:
Here's a response to the suggestion that the Belfort-Overeem fight was a worK:
Having watched the fight, that sounds like bullshit to me.
Rumours often seem to circulate when Belfort loses - the Sakuraba fight, the Overeem fight - and I honestly think its mostly put about by people who can't accept him losing.
Overeem had a fantastic 2005 and its certainly not out of the realms of poissibility that he just tooled Belfort. I don't remember hearing stuff about "works" when he beat Vovchanchyn or finished off all 3 opponents with guillotines in the European ADCC qualifiers.
The best part is that Belfort LOST his last 2 UFC fights so him losing to Overeem wouldn't sauddenly make Japanese fans think Pride is superior (bear in mind DSE don't give two fucks about their audience outside Japan and UFC is only available to a tiny minority on WOWOW in Japan so is only a blip on their MMA radar at best). I could see that theory kind of working out if somebody like Liddell jumped to Pride but with a fighter as inconsistent and overrated as Belfort it smells like bullshit to me.
As for whether Belfort was on something at Cage Rage. Check out the way he looked in 1997 and compare it to now. I'd guess Belfort was roided out of his mind in his first run with UFC and now looks pretty much like everyone else.
Of course, I've heard some things about a certain top UFC star.....

And a more general 'Belfort is overrated' rant, taking his career fight by fight:
I definitely think he's overrated. I think people put WAY too much emphasis on what he did in 1996-1997 when he was roided up, super aggressive teenager with fast hands often fighting people who really wouldn't cut it these days. Belfort has definitely shown flashes of brilliance since, and some very good performances here and there but it's pretty rare, really. Look at his career from the beginning:
1996 -
Quick KO of that total clown Jon Hess, impressive it was over somebody much bigger but Hess had no skills
1997 -
UFC 12 and two quick wins over Tra Telligman and Scott Ferrozzo where he just totally overwhelmed two 'naturally' far bigger men with pounches. Impressive stuff.
UFC 13 and a 43 second wasting of Tank Abbott. Welcome and hilarious as that was, Tank had already been totally exposed by Ferrozzo and Don Frye.
UFC 15 and he took a real beating from Randy Couture (most notably on their feet) by a guy Belfort was supposed to destroy.
UFC Japan and he beats Joe Charles with an armbar in a fight with a semi-secret 'no striking' agreement. Dull and he showed little real skill.
1998 -
THAT win over Wanderlei Silva. Belfort caught him early and followed up perfectly. A fantastic performance but people totally forget Wanderlei improved massively later on. Even a year after that Silva went to decisions with Carl Malenko and Daijiro Matsui.
1999 -
Pride 5 and he does literally nothing aside from break his hand against Kazushi Sakuraba. Belfort has no answer to anything Sakuraba does and spends the vast majority of the fight scuttling around on his arse. Abysmal performance.
2000 -
Pride 9 & 10 - a pair of shitty fights as he wins deathly dull decisions over Matsui and Gilbert Yvel.
2001 -
Pride 13 - Belfort is fed Bobby Southworth and wins his first full MMA match with a submission hold. going into the fight B. South has never achieved flawless victory over anyone of significance.
Pride 15 - BORING fight and Heath herring gets ripped off as Belfort wins a decision.
2002 -
Very, very good fight with Chuck Liddell at UFC 37.5. Chuck can't put him away but did floor him. For me, this is definitely Belfort's most impressive performance because it was against a 'real' modern fighter and he was coming off a string of shitty fights.
2003 -
Carves Marvin Eastman up with that knee. Very good performance with Joe Rogan screeching his head off about the "old Vitor".
2004 -
Total fluke win over Couture at UFC 46. Couture batters the crap out of him at UFC 49 and Belfort complains forever about it.
2005 -
Belfort looks awesome early on with Tito Ortiz at UFC 51, almost KOing him but he has NO stamina and totally runs out of gas. He clearly doesn't deserve the decison as Tito toughs it out and outlasts him but still, complains long and loud.
Back in Pride - doesn't really do much against Alistair Overeem before being caught with Alistair's guillotine choke. a hold everyone on the planet knew Overeem was going to be trying for.

And finally....................
Once and for all, the reason why Sakuraba-Belfort was NOT a 'work':
If the Sakuraba-Belfort fight was a work it wouldn't have been so shit.
OK, thats it. I'm done. I'll get you for this heckyl...........

To be fair he looked great against Antony Rea though, aside from one inexplicable moment of backing away when he had Rea clearly hurt. And I picked Rea to beat him.

Speaking of the Ultimate Fighter - TOOT!!! TOOT!!! - all aboard the Mike Bisping bandwagon. Currently boarding and heading for UFC pay-per-views by the end of 2006.

OK, that's it, I quit. You win.
Now all you have to do is transcribe every single foul-mouthed Dana White rant. Shouldn't take you more than a few weeks.

You could basically replace all those Chuck Norris facts into the old vitor and then the roundhouse kick with a flurry and presto a new myth is born :).
