Well I lost on a decision I feel should have gone my way are at least been a draw.

In round one I don't remember much. I had injured my fight shin before a week before the fight and I could kick until fight night. I wanted to work in slow, but right after we touched gloves he through a kick. It was like he was touching gloves just to try to score quick to me it was cheap but legal so I didn't think about it much. We had a close first round. I landed some good lows to answer his earlier ones. I was by far the stronger guy so I would push him to the ropes after the clinch and lay on him high while kneeing on answered. I would say the first round was close but I did more. He would never let me stay comfortable because I was landing the jab so he would always rush in to keep me from making it a technical fight he was making it a braw. Nevertheless I would give myself the round.

Second round was all me. I landed the jab very well and got in some lows. I faked the jab and throw a over hand that busted his nose. He was tired so I went for the kill after seeing the blood. They stoped the fight in the middle of my rush because all you could see inside his head gear was blood. I thought I was going to win because of the blood. The fight was unofficail so there was know KD or standing 8. It was all done with the purpose of building fight experience so after they cleared the blood they let him go. The round ended and I for sure took that one.

In the third I was done. I was so tired that I was just trying to stand. There was one point when I slid down his body and held ontu his leg. In the middle of the round I had another fury but I was to tired. He never landed a solid shot the hole round, but he was always throwing techniques. I was reduced to haymakers and I only threw one kick in the whole third round. I wasn't getting hit but I let him dictate teh fight. I was also a little worried about the injured leg so I wasn't 100% on my game. After the round they gave him a unanimous decision. All my friend said at the least I earned a draw. I have no regrets and I feel if the judges were up in the air before the third or a had it close the way he finished would have gave it to him. He was a nice guy and I actually trained with him before. The only thing I was worried about was him out conditioning me and thats what happened. Just like in the Hopkins Taylor fight I landed the more effective blows, but he looked more active and thus won. I am not upset by the decision.

The great news is after the fight a guy came up to me from another Muay Thai gym and said that I was very impressive and the only reason I lost was because of conditioning. he invited me to his gym and asked me to fight on his card in 6 weeks and that is an official fight.

All and all I am proad of the fight and I think if I ws healthy enough to train the last weeks I would have won. Thanks for the support everyone. I will give you a W next time.

SO THERE!

Sounds good :) I also need to work on the conditioning... Sucks to be beating someone but lose the fight because of "I got tired in the last round", and that so happens. Good luck with the next fight and the prep.

what does that meanSmoker means that the fight had manditory shin gaurds and head gear.

The name comes from the military. They use to hold the events in bars and of course it was smokey in there. Thus the title. I actualy found that out on fight night. Before someone told me the story I to didn't know the connection between the title smoker and muay thai.

I simply assumed they were called smokers because they were bad for your health! (please no pity laugh)

Actually more importantly smokers mean that they are generally smaller unsanctionned interclub events. Thus why the shin guards and head gear are required. Technically I think they are legally considered "sparring" but regardless they are real fights and are a great tool to build on for experience.

I have only really heard of Muay Thai smokers, but I'm sure boxing has them too. I think MMA smokers are being experimented with as well.

Its funny you mention it because they had MMA smoker matches. You couldn't punch to the face, it was kind of like Pancrese but you couldn't put your shoulder into the blows to the face. You could only do something that I would compare to a wrestling slap. They only had four of those matches at teh event.

None of the fights Muay Thai or MMA were officail fights because they wern't sanctioned. I just did it for experience and for connections. I accomplished both so I am proud of that. I am only disapointed that my inability to train in teh last week effected my stamina so much. Either way I am happy with this weekend. My next fight is gonna count so I am going to train like crazy and I am taking the W next fight.

You know Suduraba they talked about how they wanted to be more like the west coast. They said that i California you can fight every weekend if you wanted to because of all teh events. He said that is why they have teh best fighters. He said that are goal is to be more like them so we can have champions like them. He talked very highly about the Muay Thai and kickboxing organizations in you area.

It's true, I started training in Missouri and had a hard time getting fights during my whole training that I only fought in maybe 3 actually sanctionned modified MT fights. In the mean time I kept busy with the odd MMA fight (like two) and I considered it to be really hurting for matchups that I resorted to some American style kickboxing fights (above the waist -- blecch).

When I moved back to Cali though it was an amazing difference as I found myself fighting every 2-3 weeks. It was amazing and you can do smokers almost ever 1-2 weeks. One time I did one weekend after another, though I now do them a bit less since I'm getting into the sanctionned fights in the bigger events too so those take priority. But connections are definitely something that can be made in the area with smokers. At the last smoker I attended (watched not fought in) I actually saw Malaipet, Tiki, and Rampage. I think the cool part about the fight scene is that while it's still a growing sport the popular personalities are so down to earth. Well maybe a bit less so with Rampage! lol

As for being impressed with California's scene, I'm personally even more impressed with the European fight scene. Where interclub smokers are only part of the larger tapestry of events. There's the logical progression of C-A class fights. And after that with a successful A class run you can fight in the larger events that include possible entries into K-1 and Superleague. If only we could get it that organized over here!

Additionally I wouldn't mind doing MMA again under something like the Shooto system of C to A class progression.

Yeah my admiration of the Cali scene is in comparison to other places in the US. Europe by far is the model in both oppertunity and atmasphere. I hope to promote shows when my time as a fighter is done and I hope that I can showcase events that help fighters attain there goals and get esposure.

Im very happy to be fighting in New Zealand.

Im hooked up with the leading promoter here and with some big names in training so I can fight WMC rules fights every 2 months if I wish. These are big shows too that have international names. Its a good atmosphere to develop fighters here and im for sure going to be fighting more now. But im not an exception as most amateurs can participate in such events with the right guidance and connections. This makes the scene here very good.

I dont really understand what the classes in Eurpoe mean and how these are enforced though?
