Recently at night I have been awoken by seriously painful cramps in my calf muscles. Bad to the point I have had to get out of bed and stretch them out against a wall.
Any thoughts on what they could be caused by? I am currently not doing any weight lifting or cardio excersize, but I really want to know how to make it stop

I used to get them before due to mineral deficiency. Just upping my salt-intake seemed to solve it. Here's that and a few more suggestions:

It could also be dehydration, try drinking more (as this is kakutougi I probably should clarify this, try drinking more water) evenly distributed during the day and see if it helps.

Agreed - I used to get those, too. Always in the middle of the night, they'd wake me up and I'd resort to beating on my calf trying to get it to let go. I get them once in a while in my feet during BJJ also. But, for me, it's always due to dehydration and if I watch my water intake more closely they go away.

hey Jules, I heard drinking lots of tomatojuice will help to prevent this cramps.
I suffer from this cramps for more than 4 years and two days ago I have had an crampattack. It is really annoying but there isn't much you van do. Stretch it the next day.

Let us know how it goes. A good way to make sure that you don't have fluid deficiency is to watch the color of your urine and make sure it always is clear. As soon as it isn't you need to drink more.

That aside, however, the urine is a very good indicator of your own health.
Dry mouth and having little urine is another sign of needing more liquids. So is nausea, headaches, lightheadedness; ironically, those three can also be signs of drinking too much liquids, diluting the body's sodium levels, but it's uncommon with serious overhydration unless something like your kidneys isn't functioning properly.

Some of you are on the right track with Drinking more fluids.
Other things would be.........
Potassium, Cal/Mag and Hawthorne - It sounds something similar that I get when I'm not getting my vitamins in. It;s probably a circulation issue. You need to make sure your diet consists of plenty potassium and calcium/magnesium. The Hawthorne will help with your circulation. And don't forget plenty of fluids ;)
