I can remember the first time I saw him,It was on 24 October, 1999.He fought Rob Kaman at his farewellfight. After the fight, everybody talks about him and everybody who was there knew, that someday he will be very good. From that fight on,a lot of the Dutch fans close Alexey in their arms and he's very populair here. But the last time I saw him against Kaoklai Kaennorsing,he was not in shape and he lose. Can Ignashov come back ? Can he come back on his level and can he become in shape?

Hes much heavier now, but hes still got the skills. I mean his added size didnt bother him when he beat DeWit, Steve Williams, Carter Williams, Schilt and Slowinski.

I am sure he can.
He didn't look at all in shape that the K-1 eliminations ( don't know the reasons wether he was sick or thought it would be an easy fight and was un prepared)
No doubt we will see him back early next year, maybe NYE 2004??

I am sure he come back if he is training in New Zealand now.
Ray Sefo said, He sparred with Alexey in New Zealand some weeks before.
I hope he will be in shape.

alexei will be better than ever. igor has sent alexei to NZL to enjoy a more enriching environment. he'll be around low key guys with high standards day after day.

I for one can say that the gym he is in is a good one. Besides a ring and bags its got lot of aerobic/weight lifting machines and equipment which take up most of the building. And its a rather calm and relaxed enviroment in New Zealand with summer coming around so he should find it nice here.

He has what it takes. Through and through.

He just need to get his mind into it. He needs more Killer Instinct. Less Artistic Licence...

As noted, in the environment he is currently in, he`ll be doing well very soon I believe.

Come back where did he go? He had a bad dose of bad luck coming to the eliminations.

I agree that this year Alexey was far from his killer mode (2001) or his absolutely great shape in Paris 2003, but he still showed that he has incredible talent and potential by beating a lot of tough guys without ever looking really prepared for it or focused. This only shows tremendous capacity. Him moving to another country and associating himself to another incredible fighter shows that he wants something, that he is obviously trying to make things better, and that are very good news for a nut hugger like me. :D I realy hope to see a more motivated and focused Ignashov in 2005 (but permanently, not just for a few months like before) - I just get the feeling by looking at this guy fight that he only need to really want to win the K1 crown (and act accordingly) to get it; there are very few guys around who can get in his way if he's determined.

He needs a killer instinct and an artistic licence.

Aka the Ignashov that fought Pettas

He has only fought bad once this year. Against a Thai who was better then most people thought (including me).

On his artistic thing, I heard that he wasn't able to be on this years showtime card cuz he will graduate in psychology (sp?) in may. I guess he can clear his sight by then and train on his killer instinct. I guess he needs the same coach Remy did for that.

Where did you happen to hear that?

On his interview video he mentions he studies History and Psychology at Minsk University but it said he took a brake for K-1.

Intelligent guy.

Hard to train and study, I chose the other route and stopped training :( sometimes wish I had stopped studying and focused on training, anyway!Personally I don't see too much wrong with his style, everyone can't fly across the ring like pumped up Le Banner or Tyson. I know he's get criticised for not always forcing a fight but if you consider the KK fight, even though not well he tried to nail the little runner :D

Simon Rutz (the showtime promoter) stated it, normally Iggy is on his card every year but now he could jump in if there were some last minute injuries from others. A normal preperation would take too much time off his study.

he had like 2 losses this year, one being in MMA...come back from what? New Zealand?

If iam correct he had 8 wins this year, so what do you want more?

K-1 should start to put him against some of the better fighters more often during the year

he has never fought LeBanner/Hoost/Sefo/Bonjasky for example which i would like to see
