Another great night of Thai Boxing. Sorry for writing this report so late but I wasnt at home the last 2 days.
Lots of good undercards, but I will only write about the pro fights. If you want discussion and full details of all the fights then go to:

"Super" Syd Asiata from Rebel Lee Gar vs Richard "Express" Tutaki from John Glazier gym
Pretty much just as I expected. Syd low kicked the boxer for the first round and after a few low kicks in the second Richard couldnt stand up.

KO round 2 for Syd Asiata.
Dane Mongkon Noi of Nuggets gym vs Ben Agnew of Balmoral Lee Gar
Dane stood a head taller than Ben and he used his height brilliantly in this fight. From the beginning Dane started firing away the mid kicks to Bens ribs. Ben used his hooks well and tried to get close and punch but Dane used his knees. In the second Dane dropped Ben with a well timed cross. Ben managed to recover and for the rest of the fight Dane dominated with knees and the mid kick.

Unanimous decision for the more experienced Dane Mongkon Noi.
Steve Donaldson from SMAC gym vs Jom Bing from city Lee gar
Jom Bing is a former kings cup champion from Thailand who resides and trains here in New Zealand. He has had over 217 fights and despite being 45 years old he can still hang with the best. Steve Donaldson is also a famous New Zealand fighter with many titles. From the beginning Steve put the pressure on Jom, and Jom just took it slowly feeling Steve out and fighting at his own pace. From the beginning Jom showed us why he was once a champion as he expertly dodged and weaved around punches, grappled and kneed and caught the kicks of Steve. In round 2 Jom became more intense and both of the fighters were now kicking, kneeing and elbowing eachother repeadetly, the thunderstorm outside was raging and thunder came once every 30 seconds which created a great atmosphere. The crowd began to cheer as Jom increased his pace even more, every round giving him more stamina. So after 5 rounds of a great war Jom took this fight on the cards.

Unanimous decision for Jom Bing.
Yodkhunsuk Sit Kriengkrai from Kaewsamrit Gym vs Shane Choppa Chapman from City Lee Gar
Yodkhunsuk (ranked 6th at Lumpinee) looked absolutely ripped, sporting the biggest pair of calves I have ever seen. This fight was looking like it would be dangerous for Choppa. The tension was high as the thunder began to increase and flashes filled the building.

Choppa came in looking good as usual and the first round was very slow as both fighters cautiously tested eachother. Yodkhunsuk showed great ring savvy as he expertly moved around Choppa and ran in fore the ocassional low kick.
The second saw the pace lift a bit as Yodkhunsuk now started to use elbows, one which hit Choppa on the eye. Choppa also became more aggressive with jumping knees and good punching combinations.
The third round saw the pace pick up even more as Yodkhunsuk was now using elbows more and Choppa again increasing his use of knees, landing several high jumping knees on Yodkhunsuk (Choppa said afterwards that he landed one on Yodkhunsuk's collarbone narrowly missing his head). Then the decisive moment came, Yodkhunsuk lunged in for a left elbow and just as he was about to land it, Choppa landed a very tight left hook that hit Yodkhunsuk dropping him instantly. Yodkhunsuk lay on the floor and it looked almost like a KO before Yodkhunsuk jumped up faster then I have ever seen before, literally like a spring. He was counted an 8 count.

In the fourth round Yodkhunsuk managed to recover and again reverted to his original game using, low kicks and elbows to keep Choppa away, however Yodkhunsuk was now fighting at a slow pace and wasnt keen on exchanging with Choppa. Choppa began to clinch and use his very dangrous knees to hurt Yodkhunsuk.

The fifth round carried on the same. Then all of a sudden as Choppa got Yodkhunsuk onto the ropes, the Thai lowered his hands for a brief moment and Choppa exploded in with a left hook immediately followed by a lethal right hand that caught Yodkhunsuk flush. Yodkhunsuk dropped onto the floor with his arms behind him and the referee stopped the bout.

It began to look serious when after 30 seconds Yodkhunsuk was still not moving. Everyone ran to the ring to help him out. And I have to admit that that was the nastiest KO I have ever seen. I even thought that Yodkhunsuk might have been in serious trouble as a minute passed and nothing had happened. Yodkhunsuk layed there for a further minute or two before finally being raised to his feet, still looking wobbly. After sitting in the corner he managed to get up and the crowd cheered and clapped for the young Thai's effort.
KO in the fifth round for Choppa.

Final thoughts.
On Choppa:
Seeing him train and fight, Choppa is really making me more and more amazed of his ability. Him losing to JWP was legitimate, but I really regret that Choppa didnt make it to the finals. Because the shape he was in and the skill that he showed on Saturday would be enough for him to fight anybody in MAX right now with complete confidence. Choppa is not only exceptionaly gifted as a fighter he is also one of the most humble and polite people I have ever been around so I wish him the best of luck with K-1 and I hope that he becomes a bigger name in MAX, not only for him but every other K-1 fan that hasnt seen him fight like he did the other day.
On Syd Asiata:
If you guys havent forgotten, he is fighting this month in the K-1 Kings of Oceania. Syd is displaying more and more talent with every fight and there is a good reason that he is being regarded as the next big thing in Oceania heavyweights.
On Jom Bing:
Just like a great wine.
On Dane Mongkon Noi:
He looked great against Ben, and displayed a good range with the fastest round kicks I have seen in a long time and well placed knees. He is now the happy owner of the commonwealth bantamweight title.
On Yodkhunsuk Sit Kriengkrai:
I feel sorry to see him loose so badly, but he showed some impressive skills against Choppa and with a little bit more time and training he could really make waves, he will only improve training with Anuwat at Kaewsamrit!
